I own a panasoic 1000W slimline combi convection oven/microwave. When reading cooking times and recipes do I take the instruction for FAN OVEN, or an ordinary oven as the fan doesn't actually go all around and beneath the food as in a conventional fan oven?

A convection microwave is a combination of a standard microwave oven and a convection oven. It allows food cooked in the convection microwave to be cooked quickly, yet come out browned or crisped as in a convection oven. However, most cakes cannot be baked in a microwave oven - only those without an open grain structure, such as brownies. There are microwaves which contain electric browning baking elements. A true convection microwave has a high velocity forced air fan to circulate the hot air uniformly.

You do not have to remove the turn table, but I use the metal rack when cooking with convention.

I have exactly the same problem; always after 59 secs, it stops.

definately dont use the standard glass plate for convectional 'oven' cooking, as it will shatter. i have had TWO plates shatter so far before realising they should only be used for microwave cooking.

Yes.

In convection mode, you can use anything that's oven safe. Anything you would use in a regular baking oven in other words.
