SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

On the side of the memory card, there is a small slider that locks and protects the memory card from being overwritten. Yours may be in the locked position. Simply switch off the camera, pull out your memory card from your camera and unlock your memory card by sliding the tab, then replace it.

If you're using an SD card, it doesn't have a reset switch. It does have a switch to lock (protect) and unlock the card. It should be in the unlocked position.

if you have tried to set the switch to unlocke on your SD card, and still have this problem, you may need to open your camera to check the SD card slot.

"Memory card is protected"

This error message indicates that the memory card is locked. The switch on the memory card is in the write-protect position. Reset the switch as shown on the camera screen.
