The bottom heating element in an electric oven exploded as I was cooking pork chops. White stuff got all over the oven. Is it safe to eat the pork?

LOFRA LEF9EGP gas stove/electric oven - aluminium foil touching bottom element - is this safe?

The tin foil is there to reflect the heat and the lagging is to stop the heat from escaping.
I would think the foil should not be touching the element but otherwise, your description sounds plausible.

Have just moved from UK and we don't have broil and bake on our ovens - what do they mean/what's the difference as I've been cooking garlic bread on bake but it's taking twice as long to cook?

Hi,
The broil is the top element and the bake is the bottom element...so with broil you are heating from the top and with bake you are heating from the bottom...if your oven has a fan, turn that on with a bake setting and it will speed up the process..

When baking, nothing cooks on the bottom only top. It is like the bottom element is not working. whirlpool Gold series

You either have a bad heating element or you aren't getting power to it. If you are not familiar with electricity, this is not something you should attempt -- you will be working around 220 volts which could easily kill you. If you do know electricity enough to be safe, or have a friend who can help you who does, unplug the range, take the back off, find the element, unhook one of the wires, and check for continuity across the element -- you should have some resistance, but probably less than 10 ohms. if that tests good, you'll need to reconnect it, plug it back in, (this is where the potential for danger is) turn it on, and check for voltage across the two terminals of the element. It should be 210-230 volts. If not, you'll need to figure out why. One other possibility is that one of the fuses or breakers feeding the range is blown/tripped. Make sure that you have 210-230 volts at the outlet as well. Hope this helps. Again, PLEASE be careful.

No manual

The light bulb is the oven light.
The snowflake with 3 raindrops is Defrost Mode (fan runs with no heat to reduce defrost time)
The 2 lines up top & down bottom is Traditional Cooking (heat from top & bottom elements)
The big circle with a fan is the Fan forced Oven
The small line at top only is the Grill Mode
The larger line at top only is the Double Grill Mode
The line up top with the fan underneath is Double Grill with Fan mode
The line on the bottom with fan on top uses the lower element with the fan for delicate dishes

The manual can be found on the Baumatic website - www.baumatic.com.au - select your product which takes you into another page & you will see on the left hand side a link to "View User Manual"

Fan assist wont heat oven

the ring element may have blown. if it works ok with the top and bottom elements, (the convection oven) then it is likely the element surrounding the oven fan.
