Replace batteries

Marcia Boal... hello,

If our battery has corroded it may be impossible to get the end (opposite the light) cap to come off. The light is designed to be moisture resistant... Likewise even penetrating oil cannot get in...

To guarantee long reliable service it is best to put a tiny dot of grease on the threads on assembly.

Maglite Solitaire makes a wonderful little flashlight...
(all metal construction... single AAA battery)...
((Mini = 2 AAA batteries... opens the same)).

Basic colors included black, red, silver & blue
but this particular light was also quite popular for commercialization... often displaying many BIG NAME
COMPANY LOGOs.

The initial closure of the end cap can be quite loose to be effective because of it's O-ring design... however some folks put the end cap on too tight...

The

It might take some serious force to get it open again.

Consider using a piece of leather in a pair of pliers to avoid marring the case. Reassemble without over-tightening.

Hope this helps!

Cant open battery to change.Mini Maglite

My Mini Mag light has a knurled cap on the end opposite the light bulb. It should unscrew to reveal the AAA batteries.

I cannot get the cap off to replace the batteries of my mini maglite 2 cell AA

Probably a leaking battery has coroded the cap. You can send it direct to MagLite for warranty. Go to: http://www.maglite.com/repaircenters.asp

Can't open the flash light to change the batteries? Does the bottom open up? Do the batteries get replaced from the top by removing the bulb first?

The back, tail cap, should be unscrewed from the maglite to replace the batteries. It can be pretty hard to open as they are generally not opened very often and there's a rubber seal to keep it water-proof. You could try using a pliers or vice but be careful not to squeeze it out of shape.

There's also a possibility that if the batteries are in it a long time that they have leaked and the leaked chemicals have sealed it. If this is the case you may be able to get the maglite replaced depending on what brand of batteries were in it. Maglite have an agreement with the makers of Duracell, Ever-Ready and Ray-O-Vac to replace the Maglite if one of their batteries leak in it.

I have a 3AA LED mini maglite with stuck batteries. The best I can tell they have not leaked. I tried freezing the unit as well as heating the barrel to no avail. Is there a way of removing the bulb...

well, I have a 3 cell mini maglite AA with a corroded battery stuck up next to the LED. I have searched but not found a way to remove the LED to push out the battery with a dowel. The best solution I read about was to drill a hole in the battery and insert a large screw and pull it all out.
(My Maglite is from 2009 or 2010, but I think they made this model in 2011, 2012 and 2013- this is for SEO!)

Battery case does not open

make sures its being turned to the left, and if it will not come off, wrap duct tape around it to protect it and use large vice grips or pliers to get it off. Vice grips would be better as the lock but dont' lock them down too tight as you can dent the cap.

Is there a rear cap on a mini maglite. I am

Yes there is a cap. I had the same problem most likely the battery inside has corroded and leaked fusing the cap shut, contact MagLite at www.maglite.com if there were either Duracell, Eveready or Ray-O-Vac batteries in there they will replace it for free under warranty.
