LG documentation states:

When you use SIMPLINK function, you have to

connect to the OPTICAL IN 1 jack to enjoy TV
sound to your speaker system.

Basically you need to have the Audio go from TV to receiver and setup receiver to that Input to output surround sound to all speakers.

If you have a cable box or satellite receiver, hook that output into the receivers input and that should work.

My setup is DirectTv HDMI output goes into the LG Home Theater HDMI Input 1, and LG goes HDMI output into the TV HDMI input 1.
so to watch DirectTV, I switch LG Home theater to HDMI Input 1. and TV is on HDMI input 1 (to view LG HDMI output from DriectTV, Blu-Ray, Vudu, etc.)

This Vizio model has no headphone jack and is not wireless. There ia a PC audio input jack, and a digital-optical output jack, only.

I would assume that there is an audio processor chip on the main board from some other comments I have seen. I also just tried to get sound out of the TV using the A/V input jacks and that doesn't produce anything either. So, if the audio processor chip is bad, then I am wondering if the digital-optical out will produce anything either. So, if the optical out works, maybe buying a good sound bar would be a better fix than actually fixing the audio problem.

Sorry for the above two comments...the email I received for my post linked me to the wrong spot before I knew what was happening.

How do I connect my DISH, TV and Blu-ray. Right now I have my DISH satelite HD cable connected to the TV, and a HD cable connected from my TV to the Blu-Ray. The problem i'm having is the sorround sound...

hi,
Is there is any optical digital output in your satelite HD. Then connect that optical digital output of satelite HD to the optical digital input of your surround system (blue ray player) using an optical cable.
Then press the function button on the remote of surround sound system (blue ray player) and select D.IN. (D.IN means DIGITAL IN). You will get the audio through the surround sound system. if you need any more assistance fell free to contact me through fixya.

Hey, on my LG Blu-ray I have with surround sound, it plays thru all 5 speakers and the woofer perfectly when watching a blue ray disk, however when I watch anything on satellite, regardless if it's a...

You already said the Blu-Ray is working, so let's assume it's ok. Other source(s) don't produce surround so that leaves it (them) orthe one place they all come together - your receiver / theater system. Multichannel sound will only come from properly connected digital sources. Is that the case?

My surround sound will not work through the TV, only the DVD

If your tv and surround has an optical input/output.Then you can connect with an optical lead. This will then play the sound from whatever you are watching. You normaly select dig1 or input1 on the surround system.

Blu ray connect to my sc-pt660

as far as hooking up your blu ray player to the sc-pt660, the only real way to utilize the surround sound (with true surround sound) is through the optical audio out. You need to connect your blu ray player through hdmi to your tv and then connect your blu ray player to your surround sound using the optical audio out/in. I, personally have the sc-pt660 hooked up through component cables so I don't waste an HDMI input on my TV. Except for cd's, there is no reason for you to use the actual dvd player part of the surround sound considering you have a blu ray player. In conclusion, hooking your blu ray player and the sc-pt660 up to get better video simply isnt possible (your blu ray player alone gives the best possible resolution, 1080p). As far as audio goes, run an optical audio cable from your blu ray player to your sc-pt660 to get true surround sound.
