My NEC projector wont display from my Toshiba laptop running windows XP. I have checked the cabling and it all works with another laptop, but not the Toshiba. I have tried the ctl+Fn5 toggle with no joy. The display setting is 1024x768 with refresh 60hz. It is connected via a VGA output. Any help with what to try next would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks Sue

SOURCE: Projector vertical running lines

Hi there

This is definatelly a interference from a power cable. If any of your signal cables in the ceiling is closer that 5cm to one of those , you will get interference.

The Company that did the installation should know this and I would suggest you call them and tell them that they should sort it out. They should either move the cables or insulate them by means of conduit.

Sounds like one of those problems only cureable with expert knowledge of for example Chroma feed , Lcd function , lamp luminence, not to be a killjoy but it sounds like this is one for the engineers an estimate should be free and even if you dont have it fixed you'll know whats wrong if you want to do it yourself providing you have adequate training of course .... Rebootthe laptop whilst connected to the projector, with the projector power on. This works 99% of the time. You may need to manually enable your external VGA output. Cycle through available options by locating the "Fn" key, in the bottom left of the keyboard and pressing the key in the top row which has a monitor icon (or words such as LCD/crt) in the same colour.

Hold the Fn key down and pressthe top row key. Wait for 5 seconds and see what happens. Then try it again. You should find that the local screen goes blank and the external one is activated. Keep pressing til you get both screens on.

The projector doesn't use any kind of driver.
You just need to connect it to the VGA output of the PC and actually, enable that output.
Go to desktop settings and enable the second monitor. That will turn on the projector display.

Also, make sure the projector is turned on (Steady light on the power button) and that the VGA input is selected.
