Unable to connect D-link Air plus xtreme g wireless access point from pc for making configuration

Try RESETTING the D-Link.
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the routerwith the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESETbutton.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, openthe browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop withthe router's wireless settings.

If you have a wireless router and it is connected to the DSLor cable modem then - To connect to your wireless router, the router needsits wireless settings to be configured with the SSID, encryption key etc., alsothe wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router and access the Internet via the DSL or cable modem.

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the access point (192.168.0.50).

Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK.

Step 3 Click on the Advanced tab and then click Encryption on the left side. Select the Wireless Band (DWL-7100AP only).

Step 4 Click the radio button next to Shared Key and then click Enabled next to Encryption. Make sure your other wireless devices are set to Shared Key.

Step 5 Next to Key Type, select HEX or ASCII. You will need to use the same key on all your wireless devices.

· HEX - use 0-9 and A-F only.
· ASCII - All numbers and letters.

Step 6 Next to Key Size, select the level of encryption (64, 128, or 152-bit).

Step 7 You can enter up to 4 different keys. Select the key you want to use from the Valid Key drop-down.

Step 8 Enter your encryption key. You make this up yourself. If you selected HEX, then enter a key made up of a combination of numbers (0-9) and letters (A-F). For example - A4572BCC19 (HEX).

The reset only restores the router to factory defaults, nothing should change the IP address needed to log on to it, it should stay at 192.168.0.50, have you connected the ethernet cable from your computer to one of the lan sockets?

The DLink URL WEB configuration uses an IP address not //dlinkap
Try http://192.168.0.1
The default ligin = admin
The default PW = blank ie. nothing

if the router or modem has wire if wireless if there then they have the same seciurty option it means same passwork wep

disable the firewall and check the configuration of the ap

access the routers configuration page and set the wireless to MIXED mode. it supports 802.11 B & G.

The software is simply too NEW for your computer (happens all the time) BUT you can get your computer upgraded at a local computer repair store.

if you hook your access point to your router the ip address is usually 192.168.0.50 Let me know how that works. It should take you to the access point page where it can be configured from there. I hope this is helpful to you
