Reformating card how do you reformat a memory card for tomtom one , the card is sdhc i think i may have baught the wrong one , I can't install the newest sdcard so that I can install maps and support software. I have a MAC and cannot find the steps for reformating the sdcard for GO 510.

If the tomtom isn't recognizing the card you either have a bad card, or the wrong type. Tomtoms tend to have problems with cards over 2gb in size. Take the card out and use either a laptop or pc with a reader to look at the card. If you can see the card then the card itself isn't the problem. If there is nothing on it them reformat it, The card should no be able to be read.If not then it is simply too big or the wrong speed fir the tomtom. I have a few 4gb cards that are brand new and work fine but are not recognized in the tomtom or the garmin .

It is possible that the unit has a problem but that not that common. All you can do is get the unit replaced or repaired.

You may have the card locked so that the format isn't taking. Verify that there isn't something that is physically preventing the format. If the slide is in the locked position move it to the opposite side.

According to Samsung's page on this camera, the following memory can be used:

External Memory(Optional) : Micro SD (up to 4GB)
Micro SDHC (up to 8GB)

4 GB is acceptable, but I think you do not have the correct type of card. You should be using a Micro SD or "Micro Secure Digital" (up to 4GB capacity) or a Micro SDHC or "Micro Secure Digital High Capacity" (up to 8 GB capacity) card. This is very different from an SD or SDHC card. These Micro cards are very small (smaller than your thumbnail) and are often packaged with an SD adapter card. Regardless if sold with or with out the adapter, the package should say Micro SD or Micro SDHC on it somewhere.

Unfortunately, the highest you can go with a Sync is a 2gb microSD card.

microSD is not the same as microSDHC and older phones will not read the newer microSDHC format.

Did you try reformatting the card?

I had the same issue after installing updates, I contacted tomtom & they talked me through it.

I think i had to wipe the card & through my tomtom home software they reformated the card & go it sorted.
