Hi...I'm thinking about buying a 2 year old Sony KV32Fs-120, is this a good tv and are there maintenance costs involved in having a tv like this? Thanks, Nancy.

The Sony TV'S are one of the best sets you can by on the market, the Trinitron picture is world famous when it comes to picture and quality. Since it is two years old makes it a good buy, maintenance costs are low compared to most televisions.

Hi We bought a Sony Bravia 40" 2 1/2 years ago. Model # KDL40EX400. After about 14 months we started to experience something very bizarre. The TV would turn itself off. No lights on the screen. Af

At some point you have to cut your losses, this is the reason I suggest getting an extended warranty with coverage (including the maker) of 3 years, 80 of the 140 sets in our shop are less than 3 years old, if this set had that they would have to fix or replace the set----One reason I choose to answer your question (I do this here for free) is this set ought to have a error buffer, when set fails it will count the event and that also indicates where the issue is.

Most of the Sony sets for the last decade with set off and using the Sony remote: Display, 5, vol down, and POWER will if set comes on bring up a display with a number of shortened items listed----they should all if the set has this be a zero. Any with a number indicates a issue and the number indicates the number of times this event has happened.

this is a simple in shop kind of repair. Check with your local shop. It has 2 integrated circuits and 2 fuses . the part numbers will start with STK. Usual repair cost should be less than 200.00

I have coloured vertical lines covering my Sony Bravia LCD tv screen. The TV is only 2 years old. I have sound but a very distorted picture. The cable company has checked and says it's a tv problem. I will...

I also have a 2 yr old Sony KDL32xbr4 that now has multi-colored vertical lines on the screen. I contacted Sony and they say they have "no known issue" of this sort for this model. I find this rather puzzling since I have found numerous postings on the web. They told me to try the factory reset. Whatever. Might as well have said "don't buy a Sony". 2 years! $1300 for a tv and it lasts 2 years! Makes me sick to my stomach.

Sony XBR4 - 46 inch Double Imaging and 1/2 screen dark

We have a SONY XBR4 and we are experiencing the same issues. When you turn on the TV, the right side is dark, then there is shadowing with movements. After about 15 minutes the picture is fine. Sometime shortly after you will get a dark area in the middle of the screen (this doesn't happen all the time). I called SONY, they were not helpful at all. They told me because the TV was not under warranty - it is only a year and a half old, they couldn't do anything for me. We had one of their service people come out to look at it. They basically told us its the panel and it has to be replaced. The cost is $2000. NEVER BUY SONY AGAIN!!! You might as well go and buy a new TV.

GFORCE 6 SERIES QUIT CAN IT BE REPAIRED ?

Unfortunately you have a couple of problems #1 finding someone to repair it, #2 the cost involved if you could. You are better off trying to buy a used or old stock one off EBAY.

My 10 yr old Sony TV suddenly warps the picture and tints the picture green and red - kind of like 3d - it can sometimes be solved by banging the console, but sometimes takes more than one bang. Is the TV...

For a rear-projection Sony about 10 years old, just open it up (after its been off for awhile and unplugged..of course) and look for a pair of black plastic parts about 1 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches with lots of metal leads going into the circuit board, mounted vertically on pieces of aluminum with fins for cooling. They should be marked STK392-120 or STK392-150 or some other STK number. These need the pins to be resoldered underneath on the circuit board (if you are inclined and know how to solder). If resoldering doesn't fix it. They need to be replaced. They can be ordered from:

www.ued.net or any other online parts distributors...just Google the STK number on the parts in your set. They typically cost about $11.00 - $17.00 each

Good luck

Model no vs-50707 manufacture date oct 2000 tv plays and is watchabe but has blue shaddows

if i were i wouldn't bother, at $50 there has to be a fault with it!!! it could end up costing more to repair than what it would cost for a brand new TV that will have 12 months warranty
