An F9 error code on a General Electric (GE) oven indicates that the oven's electronic control system has detected a problem with the automatic door lock. The automatic door lock mechanism prevents the oven door from being opened when the oven is set for "Clean" mode. The malfunction may be a jammed door lock mechanism, a pinched or broken wire, a faulty lock switch or a fault in the control board itself

Thanks for using FixYa. F9 error in your oven/range indicates an issue with the door locks assembly and/or the door latch. To start with check the door lock circuit, you can also try to jump start it to see if it's working. Yes, the error code F9 means that the door lock circuit is faulty and should be checked and replaced by a technician. I can supply you with a part number if your able to locate the model number. Which can be found usually on the inside of the pots and pans drawer at the bottom, OR on the back area or the stove. Usually will begin with letters followed by numbers. Hope this helps
The F9 code indicates there is a problem with the door lock.
Try disconnecting the power to the range for 10 seconds and reconnecting. Open the oven door and hold the door switch plunger in while you try these things. Put the control into clean for 5 minutes then cancel clean. You must hold the door switch plunger in for the 5 minutes.
Try canceling the clean cycle without putting the control into clean.

HI. This will code is indicating that the oven door lock mechanism is experiencing difficulties. Check the wiring to door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected
wrong, or loose). Check for stuck lock switch, as well.If the wiring is not loose, or connected improperly, this will lead to a failed door lock mech. it will require you, ro your service tech to replace it, in this case.
Likely Failure Condition/Cause: 1. Door motor failure / jammed. Latch motor switch failure. 2. Control software failure, or component failure (relay stuck). 3. Wiring Problem.
Suggested Corrective Action: 1. Press CLEAR key. 2. If CLEAR key does not eliminate problem, turn off power for 30 seconds, then turn on power. 3. Check wiring of Lock Motor, and Lock Switch A and Door Switch circuits. 4. Unplug P4, apply power (L1) directly to the Lock Motor, if the motor does not rotate, replace Lock Motor Assembly. Plug P4. 5. Check Lock Switch A for proper operation (do they open and close, check with ohmmeter). The Lock Motor may be powered as in above step to open and close Lock Switch. If the Lock Switch is defective, replace Motor Lock Assembly. 6. If all above steps fail to correct situation, replace control."

Here's what F9 code means:
1. Door lock safety circuit on ERC sensed Replace the door latch assembly
2. Door Lock Warning Check door lock circuit or Replace Clock
Try pressing and holding the door latch to unlock position and then press cancel for a few seconds. The latch should return to its original position.
I hit the same F9 problem when trying to self-clean, except that the door was locked OPEN.
After much trial and error, I found the following fix: 1. Switch circuit breaker off. 2. Switch circuit breaker on. 3. Press Bake button. 4 Press the small/inside button which indicates that the oven door is closed.
The lock mechanism opened and the oven now works fine.
