Can you see a removable cover with 2 or 3 screws in the bottom? If so, power everything off then remove it to find the memory access area. You will notice if it is actually memory as you can compare it to the memory your going to upgrade it will.

I can't find the place to add memory on a toshiba A45-S121.

You can view the user manual here. Click on 'Users Guide' and the the section on adding more memory begins on page 65. It looks like it's located under the keyboard, so you have to carefully pry the piece of just above the keyboard. There's screws underneath that which hold the keyboard in place. Remove these screws and and flip the keyboard onto its face. The memory modules are covered by a plastic sheet.

Hope this helps

I have an Everex StepNote SA2052T that came with 1GB of memory. can I add another memory stick of 2GB for a total of 3GB. If so, how do I install the second stick and where?

http://couponsdealsfree.com/coupons-everex-stepnote-sa2052t-refurbished-laptop-pc-1604/

According to the specs of this laptop is 1GB Max. So you can't use a 2GB. Also it states that there is only 1 slot for memory. Which means you can not add another stick of memory, you can only add 1 stick to it.

To add you turn the notebook upside down and start to unscrew. look for the 'memory' section. However doing this would be pointless.

If your experiencing slow processing, try to remove programs that you don't use anymore. Make sure some programs don't 'start-up' while your computer is loading.

WARNING*** you are responsible for your own actions
Go to: START > type msconfig > click the 'Startup' tab > Check for unused programs running (example: msn messenger, Uncheck the box; if you don't know that program then don't uncheck it) After your done, click OK and Restart your notebook.

For future information:
  • If you are going to add memory, make sure it is the same type (example: pc5300 on old chip and new chip) otherwise you will burn out the memory.
  • Always check online for your laptop/notebook specs before doing adjustments, otherwise you risk chances of burning out the notebook and or devices your trying to add into it.
  • If you can afford it, buy a new notebook/laptop.

Good luck, and rate my advice.

How to add memory

Before adding or changing memory modules, shut down the computer, unplug the adapter and remove the battery to prevent accidental turn-on.

There are two memory sockets on this model. The easy one is on the bottom. Look for a panel held in place with a single screw, 3 3/8" x 2 1/16" (86 mm x 52 mm). Remove this panel (it has a captive screw, so you only have to turn it until you can lift out the panel). If there is a memory module already installed, unlatch it by pushing the two metal spring clips on the ends away from the memory module. The module should pop up a little bit and you can lift it out. (Handle memory modules only by the edges. Do not touch the circuitry!) Place the new module into the socket, then push it down until the spring clips latch. If you can't get both latches in place, you don't have the module seated properly.

The hard module to get at is under the keyboard. First remove the single screw in the center of the battery compartment. Open the computer and carefully unsnap the trim strip between the keyboard and speaker bezel (this was secured by the battery compartment screw). Now remove the two screws next to the F1 and Windows keys. Lift the keyboard slightly at the back, then carefully push it towards the back just enough to clear the six tabs at the front (by the right and left arrow keys, the Delete, space bar, ` and Control keys). There is a delicate ribbon cable attached near the front of the keyboard. It is not necessary to disconnect it. Lay the keyboard upside down over the touchpad. Now you can get at the upper memory module socket. It works the same as the lower socket.

I need to get under the keyboard on HP 5410 US to add memory. How do I remove frame/keyboard to gain access?

If you need to ask "how", I recommend that you take the RAM and the notebook to a qualified technician, to get it done correctly & safely. Probably about $25 for "30-minutes" of the technician's labour.

Satalite m35x-s161 how to replace the keyboard?

Toshiba Satellite How to remove keyboard and upgrade memory modules. This post was written by cj2600 on April 28, 2006
Posted Under: Toshiba Satellite A20/A25 --> toshiba-satellite-a20-a25-memory.jpgRemoving and replacing memory on a Toshiba Satellite A20 or A25 notebook is not as easy ad it should be. Both memory modules are located under the keyboard. A laptop keyboard has to be replaced in order to get access to the memory modules. Before you remove the keyboard do not forget to remove the laptop battery or you can damage the laptop. Be careful when you remove the keyboard securing strip; do not bend it too much. To remove the memory module from the slot on the system board, release the latches on both sides and the memory module will pop up. It will stay at a 30 degree angle to the system board. Firmly grasp the memory module and remove it from the slot.

Adding memory to Fujitsu LIfebook Series A3040

You remove the access cover which is where the power button is right under the screen by sliding it to the left until it comes off. Then you push the keyboard up to the back of the laptop until it will lift up exposing another cover. You remove the second cover and that is where the ram is located.Ram is under the keyboard.

How to open Toshiba R25 Series Keyboard

t isn't that bad... The top strip comes right off if you pull up per the M400 manual. Unscrew the two keyboard screws and pull the keyboard (slowly) toward the monitor to give you some slack in the ribbon cable. Then fold the keyboard back over the touchpad. Unscrew the two screws holding down the metal panel in the middle where the keyboard is (be careful - they were very tight for me and I stripped one of the screws).

Put in your DDR2 4200 memory and be off and away...

Memory slots?

I found the solution to roger2 and my own problem. The secondary memory add-on slot is on the bottom of the unit, and can be accessed by removing one screw and the slot cover. The other, main memory slot is actually located underneath the keyboard. You should shut down the computer completely, unplug the power plug, and also remove the laptop battery before installing memory. Also, it may void your warranty if you mess around inside of your laptop, so please keep this in mind. You will need to take a very thin flat head screwdriver to gently pry up the panel above the F1-F12 keys. The panel is the entire plastic piece covering the speakers that has the power on, play, stop, ff, rw buttons on it. I used a very thin and flat hair clip that I found laying around to pry up the edges starting from the Pause/Break key moving left towards the ESC key. The screen lid has to be opened all the way for the piece to be completely removed. Once that is taken off, you will see two small screws holding the keyboard in place. Remove these two screws and gently pull out the thin ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the laptop. The ribbon cable is located directly underneath the spacebar, so move slowly and carefully when removing the keyboard so as not to damage anything. In the center of the exposed area, there is a sort of rectangular metal cover with two screws holding it in place. The one that is about the same size as the slot cover on the other memory slot is the correct one. Remove the screws and open the metal cover. Underneath is the other memory slot. After you install the other memory stick, if you have 4 GB of total RAM, you should know that in 32-bit operating systems, Windows will only be able to use approximately 3.0-3.5GB of RAM. This is because of a limitation of 32 Bit Windows operating systems, and not because of the RAM itself. Only 64-bit operating systems will be able to use all 4 GB. On my system for example, I have the same Toshiba M105-S3041 laptop as you do, running Windows XP Home with two 2 GB sticks, and My Computer properties shows that I have 2.99 GB memory.
