When I turn it on, the iLO title flashes a couple times and then it shuts off and won't turn back on. I put in brand new batteries and it still does the same thing. I don't know why it all of a sudden quit working. Any help here?

yes, I have the same problem. I have put in new batteries and it just flashes a few times and shuts off or I have to take the batteries out myself. It is brand new I just got it for Mothers Day and have only used it 5-10 times. Walmart won't take it back or replace it because I don't have a recite. I have a Red one.yes, I have the same problem. take out the battery, then take out the memory. Put one of the two memory modules back in, and turn it on. If everything looks ok, shut down and put the other one back and try again...if everything is ok...then ok. If it doesn't work after the first one, let me know...
link your USB port between Computer and ILO player.
1.Click on START at lower left corner on you computer. choose "Explore"
2.look for ILO driver on start manu on left hand side. left click one on it. right hand click you will see the drop down options
3. Choose "Format" BESURE that you are going to format ILO NOT your hard drive. it will ask you again that you really want to format it. "yes"
4. copy new mp3 files to ILO. That will be finished. you can start playing it again.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
This is the worst mp3 player ever invented - i have to tell you this up front. There is no driver, the company does not support the product anymore - I would return it now while you still can.
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

if you have a ilo model mp-556 (on the back cover) this page has links to the firmware ... i follow the instruction and got mine working.
The funny~.mp3 names are usually because the title field is not filled in in the mp3 property tags, so it uses the DOS version of the filename for the title. Under windows, right click the song and select properties->summary->advanced, and make sure that the title field under "description" has what you want in it. I don't think even the makers of Ilo know how it organizes the files.
