I recently bought an Xbox 360 from ebay for $10. It doesn't work of course. I had to go to my friends house to test the system because no cables came with the core console. When we put in a game, the Xbox 360 made the typical noises, but there was nothing on the television screen. The TV is fine and all the cables are fine because they work with his Xbox 360 which is the same model as mine. We think there is just a problem with displaying what the Xbox 360 is reading because it sounds like a working Xbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If the person that you bought it from on E-Bay had an HD Television. Then the Xbox console is set into HD from the Display options. If your TV is not HD, then It will not display. It can also be the other way around, if His TV is standard and yours is HD. Also try looking at the RCA's(The Part that plugs into the 360) And you will see a slider. Switch the slider, then turn it on. Tell me if that works, if Not, tell me and I will tell you what to press on your 360 controller to set the other menu. Hope this helps.
Hey guys. I recently had this ongoing issue with the XBOX turning on but nothing being displayed on the TV screen. The weird thing was was that the ring on the XBOX did not synch and on the controller all lights stayed lid up on the ring. So, technically, it's obvious that it's the A/V cable. I unplugged and plugged in the A/V cable about 6 times back and forth, and Wah-lah. Xbox was working at normal. IDK the cause, but I assume one of the pins wasn't making proper contact in either the port of the A/V cable it self. So, hope this resolves everyones' "powering on but nothing showing." :)

Could be that the graphics card has burnt out. I had it happen to mine whilst playing. The colours on screen distorted and when i rebooted the console starts up and runs like normal except that it had no signal out to tv/monitor. Online repairs service costs £60 last time I looked

my colors got all distorted and the greens where really bright... then i would turn off my console then it did it again.... i give up on this piece of S#it system. 3 systems in 2 yrs yeah as a consumer and customer we shouldnt have to put up with this...
i have no idea the xbox works, but no sound or audio when i put it on this tv...?
ive checked the slider on the cable and cheked on an hd and normal tv but there isnt a picture. there aresounds but no picture and the xbo sounds normal
i was playing then the screen went funny colors now it works fine i just cant see anything, its my fourth x box sence they came out. fml
This is ridiculous. Mine has the same problem, I wouldn't mind if it weren't for Fable 2, I play my PS3 way more but I really miss Fable 2. I can't believe Microsoft has the gall to make me pay £78 for repair!!! And it broke down only a few days after my warranty ran out!!!
Yeah, I was playing on Halo 3, watching a video, then the colours go all distorted.. I could see what it was, but it just wasn't right.. So i turned it of, and back on, it was fine, but it happened again.. did the same thing a few times, until, finally, It just stopped appearing on the screen. I can hear all the sounds, but the screen just stays the same.. I think the video card burnt out, but i was only playing for 10 minutes :
