hi, have a miller bobcat 225, has only 194 hrs on unit. Have not used in a while. Tried to start and engine turns over fine. Seems to have no spark? where is the first area to look. I have tried using starting fuel but no spark? thanks mikehi, have a miller bobcat 225, has only 194 hrs on unit. Have not used in a while. Tried to start and engine turns over fine. The presence of a click (if it is the starter clicking) should indicate no fault in the starter switch, etc.
New battery (fully charged?) and a good starter motor - if the current could reach the starter the engine would have to crank, assuming there is nothing wrong with the engine or generator preventing the engine from turning.
Try rotating the engine by hand to ensure it isn't locked and test the battery and starter by energising the starter solenoid manually. Engine should crank.
If the engine doesn't crank the high current supply or battery/engine ground is suspect.
millerwelds.com will let you down load a manual for this unit, it can help you with this problem, also you can call miller and tech support should help
First off, check all of your welding cables to make sure they're in good shape, then check for tight cable connections. Is your machine staying at low idle speed while trying to weld? If so, Switch the idle select into the 'weld' position and make sure the high RPM's initiate. Try welding again. Better? Could be a number of things, if not.
The unit may need recalibrating the idle/run setting. Instructions found in manual at 8-6 (subaru engine) and 9-5 (kohler). Idle speed around 2200rpm. Simple screw adjustment. PDF manual here :- http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o4434l_mil.pdf
I had a problem like this a few days ago try taken of the air filter to were u can see the choke it may not be opening rite just cause it opens don't mean itsnot opening rite get a small spray bottle put gas in it and as u start ur welder spray the choke with with the gas a lil if it starts turn ur switch to run for while it workd for me if that don't maybe change the spark plugs
The fuel pump is one of the probable faults, or the needle valve in carb is stuck in closed position.
If the fuel hose is removed at carb, it should squirt gas as the engine is cranked over. If not, look in tank to see if the screen on the barb threaded into the tank has not clogged up with debris. If it is clean, replace fuel pump.
If it squrits gas- open up the carb and check to make sure the float is able to pull the needle valve down as well as the float level setting. When the bowl is exposed, look for sediment as well.
Hi Louis, the battery sits on the bottom of the unit, just inside the rear right side service door. if you were to look at the machine from the back, it would be located right in the middle on the bottom of the unit.
If the idle is not working, then it is either you idle solenoid attached to the carberator or your idle board is bad. If you apply 12Vdc to the idle solenoid is should move, if not then the solenoid is shot, no good. If it works then you idle board is bad. Also, check to see if you are 60Hertz by measuring at the outlet with a frequency meter. I recommend a Fluke meter. You should have 120Vac and 60HZ at the outlet. If the frequency is low then your engine speed needs to be increased. The idle solenoid could be causing all these problems.
i have put new points condenser coil in but did not change shutting skidsteer down. when guage nears 190 degrees the skidsteer shutsdown engine is not hot according to heat gun or guage
