Upon replacing old battery, I accidently got the neg(-) and pos(+) reversed on ES6500 Honda generator. This resulted in blowing the 15amp fuse within the control panel. Now, every time I attempt to replace the fuse with a new one, it continues to blow them as soon as it makes contact. I have tested the starter by using jumper cables directly from battery to starter and the starter spins over. Please advise?

Your charging regulator has failed. The reverse voltage caused one or more diodes to fail shorted, and this short is blowing the fuse.

Where is the charging regulator located on the Honda ES6500 and is it the same as the voltage regulator?

Alternator smoked up while battery was installed turned ignition on to verify i had power to the car than knocked the negative post off on accident and reattached than smoke

no car told at all maker model nor year. ouch 100 years of cars. wow.
all that is wrong,
battery rules
key off. and in pocket or work bench set. near have 2 keys near ignition
battery rules are neg off first ,POS off last.
and POS on first and neg last (the reverse going back in)
if only working on car the rule is battery lug neg off only.
never reverse battery cables, ever, or smoke out. or jumper backwards. BOOM even both cars jumped BOOM . learn this now.

never let lugs hit the body of car or ever.
the silly panic stuff you read (small wires) stuff?? yeah well know.
is, battery disconnect the radio goes dead lacking its code easy to get. or all computers on board go to learn mode, well let it .
lost radio stations memory , no crying towel there (DIY)
ever mess with ALTERNATOR lugs. pull BAT main NEG first or blow up the alternators huge 100amp fuse.
you need to learn electrics first. or blow things up just working say engine problems, do all ASE electric classes first, take notes.

learn not to blow up $3000 computers in the car , now to chip shortages (china chip bull)
and now 2times overpriced. OUCH, learn it now.
how to do it right. (and what happens done wrong, matters too)
you let the smoke out, for sure .

Honda ES6500 blows 15amp fuse as soon as the key is turned to "ON" tested starter with a jumper wire, works fine. Took the control box apart found nothing unusual. Removed ignition switch found...

hi
I think the problem is on when the key is turn to rotate and to engage the starter motor and it at this point that the cable curring the current on to the starter motor it then the fuse gets blown , in my opinion this cable is shortening across the chassis causing the fuse to blow, or when it get to the starter solenoid a faulty solenoid absorbs accessed electric current causing the fuse to blow

I inadvertently reversed the DC leads (pos. to neg. and neg. to pos) on the battery. There was a spark and now the unit (1000W continuous) is completely dead. Is it easily repairable or should I just get...

You didn't indicate what model inverter you have. Most have either a fuse or a circuit breaker. You should be able to replace the fuse or reset the breaker. These are designed to protect the secondary side from overloading the inverter, so they might not help with the reversed leads. If you are connecting this directly to the battery, you should install a fuse in the positive wire before connecting it to the battery.

My Honda ES6500 watt generator keeps blowing 15 amp fuse

Hi there .
In my opinion you should remove the starter and check the starter first . After you remove the starter get a good 12v battery and 2 wires and test the starter . Make sure to not invert polarity . After you touch the wires on the contactor (small solenoid on the side) see if the overrunnig (part with gears) comes out easy and with no obstruction . If the overrunning does not come out you could have a bad contactor (part # 31204-ZA0-003) or a bad starter (part # 31200-ZA0-701) .
Hope this help

Charged battery but will not turn over.

should be a main fuse that needs to be replaced. look at the fuses and find the one that is cooked.

also check the battery with a meter and see what voltage its reading. if reading only 10-10.5 volts DC, then you ruined a cell in the battery and needs to be replaced.
