Strangest solution I've read is that "no sound" issue is due to dust inside the Headphone jack... This is definitely possible since it would turn off the speakers. Solution is to just blow the dust out. If it works, then seal the opening with a little tape to prevent recurrence.
Hi, after repairing the Denon AVR-3300, I can tell the DSP board is the cause for all kind of strange behaviour. After it broke down twice with cracklin' sound, have repaired it by resoldering the DSP chip's socket the first time it broke, and all connector solderings the second time. Third time it broke (in 15 years!), it gave no sound on any channel anymore, and the mode selector switch did not produce the usual relay clicks anymore. I feared for broken amps, as it reacted to touching the elco's, but after spending timeinvestigating, it appeared again to be the DSP board's soldering ! So give the socket another look, other forums mention the same problem over and over....
