The manual clearly states a blinking red light is an "over heat condition" and your system has shut down to prevent a failure. You need to find more airflow for your PS3. If your system is cooled down and you are still getting a blinking red light then you will need to replace the CPU board because it has melted from excess heat. Aux - Setup (2 blinks) - 994 - Setup - 00168 - Vol Down - Should get 2 blinks

Aux - Setup (2 blinks) - 994 - Setup - 00037 - Mute - Should get 2 blinks

Aux - Setup (2 blinks) - 994 - Setup - 00165 - Power - Should get 2 blinks

Aux - Setup (2 blinks) - 994 - Setup - 00164 - Input - Should get 2 blinks

These are optional, I didn't use them:

Then set the volume control on the remote and other settings according to the Remote's manual.

Memory error, verify or replace the memory

Turn off the ps3. Try reseating the hard drive. Take the cables off and then hook them back up. After this turn the ps3 back on and see if the blinking red light goes away. If it doesn't then try another hard drive in the system. If the blinking light goes away then you know you have a bad hard drive. If the blinking light does not go away then you know either the power supply or main board is bad.

See if a DVD works. For me, I know my Bluray is ruined because I can watch DVDs and play PS2 games fine but anything Bluray does not work. If a DVD does not work, you have more of a problem, if DVD does work you need a new BlueRay which Sony should take care of for you. If you don't have receipt, etc. like me you can buy a new Bluray (KES-400AAA) on Ebay and use this guide to install it http://edpsystemssupport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=45.
