My dell Studio laptop takes too long to wake from sleep mode and the monitor just flickers when i try to switch on

If you use Windows 7, u might have hybrid sleep activated. This is similar to hibernate. When u choose SLEEP, your computer goes to hibernate. Sometimes this hibernate just hangs. You have to reboot computer.
Try pressing the power button for several seconds (10-15). It should power off the laptop.
If not, unplug the charger and remove the battery for a few minutes. Then try to start it up again.

It does not make any soun at all it does not hibernate any more

No sound? Check your drivers. Go to the start button, settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager and look for sound and game controller on the list. Is there any exclamation or question marks showing up there? If so, you need to click on those drivers and roll them back. Or you can upgrade them if you have a working internet connection.

Your power setting in the control panel folder should show you what power saver setting the OS is currently using. Switch it to hibernate if you want it to start doing that again...sometimes new programs turn off those features to avoid operating issues.

Good luck and be careful.

Dell inspiron 1525 w/ Vista 32 will not hibernate

Hibernate issues are generally an issue with the Video driver. Try the following: Update to the latest list of drivers from support.dell.com BIOS Video Driver see if the issue is resolved. If not, then try editing the startup group of MSCONFIG and see if an item running at startup is causing the issue. (Start, RUN, MSCONFIG, OK to open MSCONFIG)

DELL Inspiron 1525 Notebook

go into msconfig and then click on the startup tab. Click on the button that says disable all and then apply the changes. Let the laptop reboot and when it gets back into windows try to go into hibernation mode again and see if it still reboots on you. If it does then its an operating system issue. If it doesn't reboot on you, then go back into msconfig and only enable the programs that you feel you need to run when windows boots up.

Sometimes when I turn my laptop on, I hear the computer winding up then it stops. The screen remains blank. Sometimes I have to restart the computer 4 or 5 times before it comes on. And sometimes when it...

Yes, WinXP's relationship with your laptop's drivers has gone sour, like Pet Sematary. Bury your laptop...no wait, just reload the laptop's drivers (Dell or Toshiba or whatever) so hibernate works correctly...or un-fiddle with any hibernate/sleep/low-power utilities you use. Alternately consider that your laptop's reading signals from the battery or a cooling fan; telling XP or the BIOS that component is not in tolerable condition, and thus shutting down.

Have your feet rolfed while you fix that situation up.
