It's not your ink. Error 36 means either the printhead carriage is unable to travel back and forth properly, or it does, but the machine can't get the proper feedback from it. It might be an easy fix, once you get the top cover off the printer section. (Start by prying the narrow covers out of the main cover, then unplug the cables under those covers.) Often it's a small scrap of paper that got into the path of the head. If so, it's probably black with ink and hard to see, but fishing it out with tweezers should fix it.
The machine keeps track of where the head is by counting nearly-microscopic stripes in a quarter-inch strip of film that runs across the printer section. That strip should be oriented vertically and sitting in a slot in the head. If it's stretched up across the top of the head instead of down in the slot, the head can't see the stripes and panics, giving the error 36. Gently lift it and drop it into the slot. If it's smeared with ink, gently clean it with a wet cotton swab.

This is due to the ink...Check you ink cartridges if they are still full of if the ink has dried out thats wht printing is not working

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

Brother has posted a Network Connection Repair Tool on their site under downloads. Worked great to put my MFC printer back on line with my network.
