While the handset is hung up (without pressing the intercom button) press the "MESSAGE" button, on the display it should show ~why~ the message light is on (cause it is possible someone tried to intercom you, then hit the wrong button) after that you can turn off your light by pressing:
1) INTERCOM
2) 700
3) *your extension #*

it is possible that the extension that turned on your message light is no longer in service, making it an invalid extension

Panasonic KX-T7433 message light is on but can't retrieve message press button and it rings. there are previous messages won't give prompts to retrieve new or old messages

Only seen this a hundred times or so.

Someone has set your message waiting light on by mistake.

Use the intercom and press the message button. It will call the person who set it. They MUST answer to clear this. Also it can be set up to 8 times so you may have to repeat this.

Hi, the incoming message red light is staying on. However all new incoming messages have been cleared. How do I fix this ?? Thank you DOnna

2 ways to clear this (most likely someone tried to intercom you and pressed the message button on accident instead of hanging up):

way #1:
1) press the "MESSAGE" button
2) on the screen it will display who turned on your message light
3) press the "CLEAR" button (third button from the left directly under the screen)

way #2:
1) press "INTERCOM"
2) dial " *700 " then your extension number (you will hear a confirmation tone)
3) hang up

WHEN I CAN AN EXTENSION A GET A MESSAGE THE THAT LINE IS NOT IN SERVICE. HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

The not in service message is given when there is no telephone attached to the intercom number your trying to call. I'd re-check the intercom number your calling, this can be done by using the button inquiry feature on the set your calling. At the set your calling, press feature *0, then press the intercom button on the lower right hand side of the set. The screen will display the intercom number of the set.

Cannot retrieve voicemail

When you press the message button, look at the display. Is it really going to the VM extension or is it going to another phone? Othre people could have left you a message by calling you and pressing the MESSAGE buttone either on purpose, or by accident.

You can clear ALL message lights from your phone by dialing *700 plus your extension and #. Of course you can access VM by dialing the VM extension, usually 165 or 500 from the intercom.

Intercom use

We have the 25414RE, so I can tell you how ours works and hope it helps solve your problem...

You first have to assign each phone a "number". Push the menu button, and go to phone options (you scroll by pushing the review button to the left or right), choose set phone id (once you are on that option push the select/save button just above the review button) - I started with the first phone I plugged in and made it number one, and so on (we have a total of 5). Once the phone ids are established, simply push the intercom button and the corresponding number on the right speed dial/intercom numbers - it should dial the phone you want. It also has an option (again we have the 25414RE) to have the phone auto answer the intercom - so if you are paging someone in a room that isn't near the phone, or the phone is shared by several users, it picks up without anyone having to push anything. Otherwise, the phone that you are calling has to either have the handset picked up or the speaker button pushed. Hope that helps you!!

How do I retrieve messages on the Panasonic KX-T7030 phone?

  • Call into your mailbox (usually by dialing intercom 165)
  • Press 4, and 4 again (for "Incomplete call handling")
By default, three options are enabled:
    option #1: leave a message
    options #5: call the operator
option #6: return to top menu
  • Follow the audible prompts to disable options 5 and 6

Here are some other features you may need

  • Make sure your Auto Answer button is lit up, so you can receive intercom announcements, and respond hands-free.
  • Use the Call Forwarding (FWD) to send un-answered calls to another phone or to voicemail
  • Press BGM (or 1 on the touch-tone pad) for background music, if your system is equipped.
  • Use Absent Messages to show text messages on other people's phones when you are away.
  • Use System Call Waiting so your phone will ring even when you're on the phone. Press Intercom and dial 7311 to set it up, or 7310 to cancel.
  • Use Do Not Disturb (DND) when you don't want to receive calls. Press Intercom, press FWD/DND and dial 1 to activate, or 0 to cancel.
  • Press MESSAGE when you call a busy intercom number. This will turn on the MESSAGE light on the other phone, and the other person can tap that button to automatically call you back.
  • If you get a busy signal when you call an intercom number, you can signal the other person by dialing 1 (if that phone is programmed for System Call Waiting (above).
  • Dial 330 to make an announcement to all phones.
  • If you want your phone to automatically select an outside line when you pick up the handset, press PROGRAM, dial 99, dial 12, press STORE, press PROGRAM

Phone turns off momentarily and reboots when I try to retrieve messages.

It seemed like there is a corruption in the phone's firmware. You should be able to take it back to where you bought it and get a replacement.

Note** The firmware tells your phone what to do when you press any button....without it, the phone is nothing more than a shell.

    Message light continually lit

There are different reasons your message light may come on besides voice mail calls. The situation that started the message light needs to be completed before it will go out. I cannot be sure on your particular phone but quite often when I see this problem on other business phone systems it is because someone on another phone in the system tried to intercom and there was no answer setting off the message waiting indicator. (This may require other buttons to be pressed by the caller making it a rare occurrence) If so, you may have to press the message button to return the intercom call. The trick is the other phone needs to be answered as well or the system will not shut off the MSG light. Are there any unusual messages, icons, etc.. on the LCD? If this is not the case, you MAY be able to force the light off by leaving yourself another message and then retrieving the message.
