If it won't copy, it is unlikely to handle faxes either since those functions use the same scanner.
If your received faxes are coming out blank, then it is a problem with the ink system; if you can get faxes printed but not copy a document, the scanner may be at fault.
Have someone send you a fax to check this function (printing) and then try sending one back to check the scanner.
If either one fails, then hyou know where the problem lays.

Select the article and use copy function.
Open a new word document and paste the article in that word document..
using save function in file menu , save the word document in my documents...
Put the pages in the "multiscan" all at once, not just one sheet at a time. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) will feed one sheet of your document at a time untill all of the pages are scanned...
Thanks for using FixYa!
I need help also my black ink stop working also but think it is dry and that is why it won't wor. but still have same fax and copy problem exactly even the grinding noise
Does the copy function work if you place the document to be copied on the platen (open the cover and lay it on the glass)? If so, check the area to the left of the platen. There should be a strip of glass with a clear plastic cover over it. This area is used for scanning when feeding paper through the automatic document feeder (ADF) from the top. This area must be clean. If this area is clean and clear, it's possible that the scanner element (below the glass) is no longer going all the way to the left when using the ADF. This would be a problem that would require servicing.
well you gotta provide the details in scanners configuration where you want the scanner to copy your Documents to .i.e. whether you want it to scan and store it as a image or open it with some Application or you want it to print just assign any one task with proper configuration it will definately work.
Thanks
This suggests the the 'copy' element of the software is not VISTA compatible.
In VISTA help in my computer - check out the 'compatibility' options
and select an operating system that the copy function did work under
