Kenmore Coldspot (7/2003) loud noise from freezer (top left) area. Comes and goes. Loud for 10 minutes, stops for 20 minutes. Then no noise for a month or more. When it happens and I turn doen the temp, it cuts off briefly. I am hoping its some ice build up on the fan and goes away once its defrosted. Any thoughts?

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot freezer is buzzing loudly

See if pressing on the back panal makes a difference and see if anything is putting pressure on the panel. If its vibration it is trial and error to get it positioned to quiet it down. If it is the bearing replacement is the cure.

I have a kenmore coldspot model 70167998 - loud vibration in freezer; i'm thinking maybe it's the frost free fan going out? Is this a fire danger?

no theres not any fire danger,it may just be the fan blades hitting ice build up due to defrost issues you will need to remove the rear inner wall in the freezer to see exactly what it is

The refrigerator run loud for twenty minutes or so then it stops for ten minutes and starts running loud again

If the noise is coming from the back of the fridge, it could be the compressor is dying. Its cycling and over heating shutting off then trying to restart a short time after once the thermal overlaod resets. You hould call a service tech sooner than later.

Constant loud noise when frig turns on/comes from bottom

when the compressor is running unplug the ref. and if you hear the noise coming from the compressor then
a ballance spring may be broken inside the compressor.

The compressor will run normally with a broken spring it will just be annoying when it shuts down.

Buzzing noise every 5 to 10 minutes, like an ice machine turning

No ,very possible it is due to expansion. There is a covering on the return pipe called armour flex. this armourflex stops ice migration inside the walls of the fridge. If it breaks away, the ice expands around the pipe and and pushes on the insulation foam which then cracks and makes those loud noises. Have heard this noise many times on a particular brand of fridge to a point where some customers have dived for the floor thinking they are being shot at. Repairing that problem is a biggish repair and not cheap. You will find if it is the compressor it normally only happens at either start up or switch off (a clattering sound)

Our kenmore elite bottom freezer is making a loud humming noise. It shuts off when door is open..and continues when door is shut. Temperatures are fine, no error message, it rarely stops..like it is trying...

Turned off the fridge, emptied the Freezer, used a blow dryer for 20-30 minutes, to melt ice that had built up in vents at rear of freezer.

Cleaned the freezer and reloaded...no hum..at least for now.

Kenmore top freezer fridge does not cool but freezer works

Turned refrigerator off for 8 hours, let the frost melt and the fan in the freezer worked again. The compressor now only has a soft clunk when it goes off.
