Thx for ur solution on my motherboard problem u gave the solution for.
i did nt know wat kind of motherboard(of the two u specified)i hav in my pc,
i hav downloaded both the drivers however, frm the site you gave, just tell me where shud i install those drivers in the computer, do i have to copy -paste them?i am still unable to play any audio file
You download the sound driver for both models. Good. Create a folder for each sound driver you downloaded. Name each folder so you know which is what. Copy & past the downloaded file & the uncompressed folder into its own folder. Each file must be uncompressed. I assume you already uncompressed each file. When you did that it created a folder & inside that folder are other folders & files. Windows can be weird, so when you tried to install the .exe file windows may have not installed it correctly
You want to install through windows device manager. If you have My Computer icon on you're desktop do this.
Right click once on My Computer & slide to & left click once on properties. This will open System Properties. Click the hardware tab. Than click the device manager button. Scroll down to Sound, audio and game controller. The + sign on its left should all ready be opened. You should see a yellow explanation point.
Right click once on the yellow ! point & slide to & left click once on update driver.
Windows hardware wizard will open. Click No, not at this time. Than click the next button. Another window will open. Left click once in the circle next to, Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Than click the next button. Again, another window will open. We want to remove the green check mark next to, Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...). Click the green check mark once & it will go away.
Click the browse button, click the + sign next to my computer. Go to one of the folders you copied the uncompressed file to. Click on the folder the uncompressed file created. You only want that folder to be high-lighted. Not opened. Than click OK. Windows will scan the folder & find the correct driver files for you’re system. When windows finishes, restart you’re system.
If you receive an error that the driver is not correct, than follow the above instructions & do the same for the other driver.
One of the two should work. If neither work than uninstall windows SP3. It should be listed in control panel / Add remove programs. You may still need to install the sound driver as mentiond above. If the driver software for both still fails than the odds are the intergrated sound device may be defective. Unlike a desktop PC you can not add a PCI sound card as a work around to get sound.
If you still run into troubles just let me know.
I'll think of something
