MY BLACKBERRY BOLD 9000 WON'T TURN ON!!! My friend gave me her Blackberry Bold 9000. It's battery was replaced a few months ago but it hasn't been used since then. When I plug it into the wall charger, the red light comes on for about 20 seconds, then goes off and a white screen comes on with a picture of a battery with a thunderbolt through it. This shows for about 15 seconds, then the screen goes blank again and the red light stays off. Nothing changes when I press and hold the power button. On online forums it is suggested that one 'drops' the phone to nudge the battery in place; remove the battery and then put it back in to do a hard restart; or plug in the phone, remove the battery and leave it out for at least 30 seconds (while the phone is still plugged in) then replace the battery. When I try removing the battery while the phone is plugged in, the screen shows an image of a battery with a red line through it. Once the battery is replaced, the red light comes one, the screen shows a battery with a thunderbolt, then everything goes off again and I am back to square one. So my phone still will not turn on. A new battery will cost me more than $100 which I really don't want to spend. Please tell me what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Uh yes a little confusing, especially re the 'pin'. Keep in mind that the battery with a red line through it only appeared AFTER the battery was removed but while the phone was still plugged in (in other words, the image was indicating, quite correctly, that there was no battery in the phone). Does that still mean that the charger is not the correct one? It's the one that came with the phone when my friend bought it.

Ok...don't panic. The charger you are using is not compatible. Verizon only works with verizon blackberry's. Non verizon will not work with blackberry and vice versa. This is what will happen. you plug it in and it will boot for a few seconds and then the lightning bolt you see is the charge icon and then a red line in it means that charger is not compatable. Blackberry does make its own charger but there is a "pin" on the plug in that will tell it it is not the right one. Am I confusing you?

    Sorry. There is a pin wire that tells the device that it is the right type(same manufacturer) charger. Most all computers have them now. It is possible that your friend bought it like that.

    I just reread your reply and then I saw...I was confused meaning me....sorry. There is one last thing you can do. Try to use a light abrasive like a pencil eraser and clean the contacts on bot the battery and very carefully the phone.

Your phone has been blacklisted from whatever carrier you're trying to use. The solution is to unlock (go to www.unlockbb.com if it's not unlocked already) and try another carrier.

My Blackberry bold 9000 sound fails

First try a firmware restore, a guide on how to do that is here: Blackberry Firmare restore. If that fails it looks like you need a loud speaker which in theory you can replace yourself. Here's a guide on how to disassemble a blackberry. Maybe a techsavy friend can do it for you. If you want to have somebody else do itfor you there are third party Blackberry Repair Services.

My blackberry bold 9000 led stays red for a few seconds and then shows the charging icon then cycles back to the red light. It won't turn on.

Hello,
It can be deduced from your problem that there is an error on the operating system of your bold 9000,I also use a bold 9000 and i experienced the some problem 2 wks ago,
This solution helped me out;
1.You have to do a hard reset on your bold,which means you have to remove the battery from your phone and re-insert it back after 10mins,

2.if the above solution doesn't work,it means you have to flash the entire ROM random operating memory of your phone,which requires the use of a particular software which can be got from any phone technician in your area.

Have a nice day.

Blackberry bold suddenly shut down

Lots of battery issues with the Bold. Try taking the battery out, keeping it out and connecting to PC with USB. Do any lights come on? Red light should appear. Put battery in while connected to USB.

Another fix that I found for a friend-leave the battery out of the unit for a day-put it in and plug in power cord or USB. It worked.
