It has password protection. Open My Computer on your PC, insert the USB drive, open the password file, enter your password, then select the option to remove password protection from the USB drive. If this does not work, contact Verbatim for a solution, these USB flash drives have lifetime warranties.

I solved write protection on my Verbatim store 'n' go 1 GB by this program "HT203 Handy Steno 2.0 Repair Tool" which format FLASH DISK from http://emea.apacer.com/en/support/downloads.asp . I know its different manufacturer but its working.

SOURCE: cancel ''write protect'' on USB memory stick

If no physical switch, then check the software that came with. Some sticks have a software component that recognizes when you plug the stick in and gives you options for viewing and launching applications from the stick. There may be controls you can use to change the write protect.
If not, or you can also try, opening a view to the stick from Windows Explorer and just delete files from there as you would from any drive. Windows will prompt you to confirm delete. I wouldn't delete any auto-load or setup apps that would be used to connect to another computer.

Sorry but you wont be able to put a file larger than 4gb due to file format limitation since you used fat32. only NTFS supports files larger than 4gb. if you want to use it with large files you need to format again using NTFS. hope that helps!

Write protected memory stick

1.Look for a switch or button on the side of the micro SD card or adapter. It might have a lock/unlock symbol on it. 2.Move the switch to the "Unlocked" position to remove write protection. This position may also be labeled "R/W" for read/write. If you have no switch, continue to Step 3. 3.Download and install Sony EzRecover and attempt to use it to format the card (this will erase all content). If this doesn't work, try Step 4. 4.Delete and repartition the micro SD card using Windows XP. Select "Control Panel" > "Administrative Tools" > "Disk Management." Select the micro SD drive and click "Delete." Right-click on empty drive and select "New Partition."

Some Verbatims have a write protection switch on its side - make sure it's not activated. Then open the properties of the stick in My Computer. If in there the stick isn't set as read only then it has died - there's nothing more you can do to save it. Junk it and get a new one.

Corrupted files on cruzer micro 4gb

Due to the U3 technology, i.e. the files you deleted which were on the drive when you got them, you may have caused the drive to malfunction because the U3 software was not uninstalled, but rather deleted.

Please attempt to reinstall the U3 software on the Sandisk website, named "U3 Launchpad Installer"
which can be found at this link: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

If you are still having problems, either reinstalling the software or with corrupt files, please report any errors exactly as you see them.
