may be the adapter is faulty.. just check with some other adapter and try upgrading the firmware to the latest version if its turning on

first of all, what is your router's firmware version? if it is 1.25, well there's no update as of this time. if lower than 1.25, here's where you can download the firmware http://www.dlink.com/products/?tab=3&pid=DI-624&rev=DI-624 .

Once you connect to your wireless network and it ask you for a password or if you notice that your wireless network name has a lock on it or says it is secured. It means your wireless network is secured. Otherwise reconfigure your wireless to enable wireless encryption.

Try to unplug the router and hold in reset button for 30 seconds see if that works, you probably did that already, But if you can get your computer to respond you should be able to open software Bios. and do your firmware update from there. If not I believe a hard reset is with the router plugged in and holding reset button for 30 seconds, I don't know I sure hope that resets it for you. Thanks take care
