My dryer makes a horrible high pitch squeaking sound when it is in the dry cycle. It is about 11 years old. GE profile front load.

Could be the bearings going, other possibilities could be that the drum is slightly misaligned and scraping against the housing, although that's not very likely, or a bad belt.

Although sometimes it's some obscure thing, I could be compleatly wrong.

drum rollers/glides, may be that the motor needs to be oiled, in which case you will need to unplug dryer and drill a hole in the casing not to deep just to where it goes through the casing, then moisten the cotton fabric. Hope this helps Tim:

My dryer is driving me out of the house!!!

It's most likely not the belt. It's either the tension pulley whereas the bearing has gone bad. Or it's the rear drum bearing. The drum sits in this saddle type bearing and when it goes bad it can drop the drum and you can be rubbing metal on metal.
I would let a service tech take care of it. Should be about $100.00 for service call and parts. He could do it in about an hour or less.
Chances are you won't get anyone to sell you the parts either. They got the market cornered. Most places only sell to techs.
