Oct 6, 2006 - I recently dropped my printer out of my car by accident, and now everytime I try to print something, it gives me a Service Error 5100.

please help me,i have problem in my printer,wifi on printer can't search .... I too was given the generic "5100" error message just tonight.

[5100] or E,2,2 is CARRIAGE ERROR. Maybe is the faulty of CARRIAGE UNIT, LOGIC BOARD, CARRIAGE MOTOR or TIMING **** STRIP FILM.

Service Error 5100
Cause : Movement of the Print Head Holder is blocked.
Action "Clear the paper jam or foreign object that is preventing the Print Hed Holder from moving, cancel printing from your computer, then turn off the machine and turn it back on again.

5100 is a Carriage Home Position Error.
try cleaning the plastic strip that runs the length of the carriage, it may be contaminated.
Use alcohol and a swab.

1. Try to reset the ink counter by iptool software (sometimes it help)
2. Unplug the usb cable and then turn off and on your printer for a few times.
service error 5100 seems like indicating of mecanism exhausted or out of buffer ram in the printer. You should reduce the amount of pages to print at one time.

5100 Make sure nothing is blocking the cartridge movement, if not requires service.

I Have the same problem. Greece.  This is the second services and I a lot overwrought with this instrument.
Him I was deprived 2 times and now one more time will again make installation of other instrument for the time of repair.
Rather I will reverse the sale in order to I finish with problems with canon.
