Just purchased iphone but itunes will just not download?? have tried according to instructions but keeps coming up at the end "error has accured"

  • Anonymous Jan 05, 2011

    Hi,

What type of computer operating system have you got? Mac or windows? also what version is the software? So if a mac, 10.5.4 etc, if windows, xp, vista?

Also do you have any firewalls or antivirus's active on your computer? These can sometimes interfere with iTunes download

    (Please leave feedback)

  • Anonymous Jan 06, 2011

Hello There, I have windows vista, I also have firewalls and antivirus
on my computer, but I disable these prior to downloading itunes.
It seems to go through the whole process of downloading then at the
end a page appears saying an error has accured along with a lot of
    computer jargon?.
    Regards.

Do you receive any error codes specifically from itunes or does it seem like its the computer? Also when you download itunes do you download directly from the site & when it pops up with run or save, which one do you choose? If run you need to be selecting save to save the file, other than downloading from the site and ensuring you select save, and turn off firewalls etc i cant see what can interrupt it really?

Try opening another user account on your computer with administrative access and ensure again all security software turned off then go to itunes.com/download and try again

Hope this helps

Yes I do receive error codes though nothing says its specifically from itunes, I would suspect its the computer.
And yes I do download directly from itunes and when it pops up to save or run I choose run! although since you said click save instead I have done so, and it has been saved in my documents, then I disable everything firewalls etc and download itunes but the same thing happens it stops near the end with the following error warning, as follows:-

AN ERROR OCCURED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF ASSEMBLY "microsoft .VC80 . CRT,version = "8.0.50727.4053" , type = "win32" , PUBLIC KEY TOKEN = "1FC8B3B9a1e18e3b", process or Architecture= "x86". Please refer to help and support for more information. HRESULT:0x80070020.

As regards opening another user account with administrative access I am not quite sure how you that?
    Regards.

Hi sorry for the late reply,

To set up a new user

    1 - Control panel > User accounts
2 - Click on Manage another account > Click Create a new account > give the account Administrator access

Just call the new account what ever you like and leave it un passworded. Then when you have done that make sure you are logged out of the old account and log into the new one.

Then go to itunes.com/download and download the latest itunes and when the pop up appears saying run or save select save, then once download complete install itunes. If this doesnt work then it may be an issue with your comp software

    Hope this helps

How to set up my iphone

here are useful tips for your iphone set up.

Please read the Activating and Setting Up Manual Instructions below -
What You Need - To use iPhone, you need:
• A new wireless service plan with the carrier that provides iPhone service in your area
• A Mac or a PC with a USB 2.0 port and one of the following operating systems:
• Mac OS X version10.4.10 or later
• Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later
• Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate edition
• Display resolution on your computer set to 1024 x 768 or higher
• iTunes 7.5 or later, available at www.apple.com/itunes
• An iTunes Store account (a major credit card is required to open a new account) â An Internet connection
Activating iPhone
Before you can use any of iPhone's features, you must activate iPhone by signing up for a service plan with the iPhone service carrier in your area and registering iPhone with the network. If you already have a wireless account with the carrier, you may be able to upgrade your account to work with iPhone, or keep using your old phone and add a new line for iPhone. (Some accounts may not be upgradeable.) You may also be able to transfer your current phone number to iPhone, or get a new one.
For more information about iPhone, including videos about how to activate and use it, go to:www.apple.com/iphone
Inserting the iPhone SIM Card
In some regions, you may need to purchase the SIM card separately and insert it into iPhone before activation. Read the documentation that comes with the SIM card for instructions.
If your carrier gave you a PIN number to use with your SIM, you may need to enter the PIN before activating iPhone.
Activate iPhone
1 Download and install the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.
2 Connect iPhone to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac or PC using the dock and cable that
came with iPhone. Unless your keyboard has a high-powered USB 2.0 port, you must connect iPhone to a USB 2.0 port on your computer.
3 Follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes to activate iPhone and sync iPhone with
your contacts, calendars, email accounts, and bookmarks on your computer. A single checkmark in "Set Up Your iPhone" syncs all these items automatically. Or you can use iTunes to customize the information you sync, and to sync your ringtones, music, photos, podcasts, and videos to iPhone. See the following section.
You can disconnect iPhone from your computer after "Waiting for activation" appears on the iPhone screen. When activation is complete, "iPhone is activated" appears on the iPhone screen. This means that iPhone is fully functional and you can use all of its features.
Important: If you are migrating your current phone number to iPhone, activation may take from several hours to a day and migration of your number may take several days, depending on your location and previous carrier.
Syncing iPhone with Your Computer
When you connect iPhone to your computer, iTunes syncs iPhone with the information and media on your computer, according to how you've configured the iPhone sync settings in iTunes.
You can set iTunes to sync any or all of the following:
• Contacts - names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and so on
• Calendars - appointments and events
• Email account settings
• Webpage bookmarks
• Ringtones
• Music and audiobooks
• Photos
• Podcasts
• Videos
Ringtones, music, audiobooks, podcasts, and video content are synced from your iTunes library. If you don't already have content in iTunes, the iTunes Store (available in some countries) makes it easy to purchase or subscribe to content and download it to iTunes. You can also add music to your iTunes library from your CDs. To learn about iTunes and the iTunes Store, open iTunes and choose Help > iTunes Help.
Contacts, calendars, webpage bookmarks, and photos are synced from applications on your computer, as described below. Contacts and calendars are synced both ways between your computer and iPhone. New entries or changes you make on iPhone are synced to your computer, and vice versa. Webpage bookmarks are also synced both ways.
Email account settings are only synced from your computer's email application to iPhone. This allows you to customize your email accounts on iPhone without affecting email account settings on your computer.

I cannot restore my iphone 3g 8gb at the end of restore process error massage 1011 comes. Can you help?

Have you tried to restart your computer and repeat the restore? And make sure that you have an excellent internet connection.

Do that first, if the error is still there, check if you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer. If not, update your iTunes by opening it and selecting "Help" from the menu bar then select "Check for Updates". After the update, do the restore again.

If you still get the error, follow my instruction on how to put your iPhone to DFU mode and restore.

Hey im trying to download iphone applications to my iphone do anybody know what website to do that on?

You have to have an account on iTunes (http://www.apple.com/iTunes) in order to access the application store. Then simply locate the icon for applications and you can search and download. Keep in mind you'll need a credit card to set up the iTunes account, even if you only use free applications.

Iphone problem

Try pressing down the off button and the menu button on the iphone at the same time to reset the iphone. If itunes keeps freezing try uninstalling itunes completely, then go to the apple website and download the newest version of itunes. if that still gives you trouble try not to upgrade itunes while iphone is plugged in.
