No sound from the HDMI

This document pertains to HP or Compaq PCs with an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector for connecting a monitor or TV. If you use HDMI to connect your display, you must activate HDMI sound by adjusting your Windows settings . If HDMI is not activated, you cannot hear any sound. Because of this, HP recommends that you connect analog speakers to the computer to hear sound during the initial setup of the computer. Use the following steps to activate HDMI sound on your computer: NOTE: If you ever perform an HP system recovery, you must repeat this procedure to activate sound for the HDMI connector.
  1. Right-click the Volume icon by the time in the lower-right corner.
  2. Click Playback Devices . The Sound window opens.
  3. On the Playback tab, click Digital Output Device (HDMI) if it is listed. If it is not listed, click Realtek HDMI Output . Figure 1: Digital Output Device (HDMI) selectionc01503048.gif Figure 2: Realtek HDMI Output selectionc01063625.gif
  4. Click Set Default .
  5. Click Apply .
    • If you used Digital Output Device (HDMI) , click OK to close the window. This completes the steps to activate HDMI sound.
    • If you used Realtek HDMI Output , continue with Step 6.
  6. Double-click Realtek HDMI Output . The Realtek Digital Output Properties window opens.
  7. Click the Supported Formats tab.
  8. Place a check in the 48.0 KHz check box, and make sure that there are no checks in the Dolby Digital check box and all other check boxes. Monitor speakers not working

You need to reinstall the software driver for the sound card. Usually, a virus/mal/ad/spy-ware will disable sound quite readily!

No audio sound

Run the software that came witht he monitor, then check if you are sending the signal to the monitor and not your old soundcard. There should be

open "Open volume control" on the speaker icon in lower right corner of your screen.

click options/Properties

the "mixer device combo box" will give you all the options you can send the sound signal to, in my case realtek audio, webcam.

the acer LCD should be there, if not try to figure out why.

I dont have an acer monitor, but this should get you going in the right direction.
