Single stage cooling and 2to3 stage heating thermostat. A 2 stage heat t-stat will/should have the option for a heat pump and aux heat in the installation configuration.

I just bought a honeywell RTH2510/RTH2410. It states that if your old thermostat has Y1 WI & W2 stop and contact a qualified contractor. WHAT? how hard can it be, just need to know what wires go where?

Your system has 2 stages of heat. Therefore you should have a 2 stage tstat. The 2510 is 1heat/1cool, put your w2 wire in with your w1 wire, you will be fine.

We have bought a home with the wite rodgers thermostat 1f85-275 it doesn't seem to be working. on the top right of the screen it states 1&2 stages? anyway, help would be appriciated

Hi, this thermostat is for central heat and air systems that have more then 1 stage of heating or cooling. For example, your unit may have 2 stages of cooling, as in 2 compressors, or 1 stage of cooling and 2 stages of heating as used in commercial heat pumps. This is a multi-stage heat pump thermostat. It may be just a matter of programming the stat. If you can find a manual on it, this would help. If you open the cover, it should have directions on how to program it.Make sure you have power to everything, check all breakers to see if they may be shut of, even if you have a display, doesn't mean you have high voltage to run the unit. Make sure fan is in auto, and on heat or cool, and temperature set for it to come on. Please keep me posted.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

PS Your unit has 1 stage of cooling, and 2 stages of heating.

Amana PGD60C1152E no heat

Your thermostat Function 0170 must be set to "1" for Single Stage Heat/Cool. Function 0180 must be set for "0" for Heating Fan Control. Function 0240 must be set for "5" for the Heating Cycle Rate for your <90% Gas Furnace. If you have already done these steps or if, after doing these steps, you continue to experience a problem, you problem could be with your Gas Furnace. I'm including some links for information on your system and thermostat that include wiring diagrams.

No heat, got great a/c....

W1 and W2 are the differences from the single stage to the two stage. Im thinking its your thermostat is not programed for 1 heat / 1 cool. You probably had 2 heat / 1 cool before.

RTH7400 thermostat installed-screen display unlit-used page 10 wire installation. Used heat pump wiring-which does not show W2 and Y2 on heat pump schematic, so used conventional displayed W2 and Y2...

w2 and y2 are used for 2stage applications

w2 = 2 stage heat
y2= 2 stage cool

If your system is a single stage system, look for the y1 and y2 terminals. If the thermostat does not have y1 and y2 then you may have the wrong thermostat. As always, please read the directions carefully. Thanks!
