Have a uniden pc 68 elite it seems everything works the whene transmitting the needle moves a. but it has no volume it makes no noise i have tried a different mic i have put a new ext speaker on it and it still does nothin any help is greatly appriciated

Hi Thi: make sure the machine is not set to wind the bobbin. Turn the handwheel towards you and see if the needle moves. You may have a belt that has come off. Does the machine make noise like the motor is running when you press the foot control?

The final amplifier circuit goes out on these often. It controls transmit power. They transmit, they light up, they emit about .25 watts or less. IMHO, you are done. They simply are not worth anything and there are no parts available for that repair.

is it possible that you didn't get the needle inserted all the way into
the needle holder?
is it possible that the needle is not turned the right way in the
needle holder?

if wires and needle are good is the rca jacks in a input phono aux are the ones to use and the amp is set to aux or phono is the ground wire in ifit isnt working then its more likely the cartrage is shorted out thats the metal box that the needle is connected to

digital is supposed to stop your calls from been listened into, if it is analogue it is very easy.
are there a choise of different channels? can you haer her conversations?
turn off the base and try turning on the handset and see if you can listen in?
if the phone battery is getting old it won't transmit as far.
the signals move in line of sight so if you move the base it might work better for you and maybe make it difficult to listen in?9They might get your signal stronger than there own?

Sorted now, soldered a new output transistor into the board and all working.

Try to update the firmware of your xbox.

Moving the volume/on/off knob to make the radio work again is interesting and a good clue. On most CB's, the pot is probably soldered directly to the printed ciruit board.

It's possible that there is a bad solder joint to the power connections on the pot that turn the radio on & off. If the solder joint is bad, it can still make a connection but the connection will have added resistance in line. The on/off switch can be bad too.
Switches arc each time they are used and over time, the contacts become pitted and make poor connection.

I had a stereo receiver where the tuner lights flickered and there was electrical noise in the receiver. It turned out to be a bad on/off switch.

This resistance may be low enough not to affect the radio when in the receive mode but when you transmit and draw more current that resistance will be noticable during transmit.

The fact that you rotate or move the volume/on/off knob and the radio starts working again, tells me that there may be a bad connection in the radio.

A cheap thing you can try is spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the pot and rotate the pot back & forth several times and turn the switch on & off several times to clean it.

What you need to do is when you go to the advanced settings on skype, slide the volume slider thing, then click save before you speak or do anything to make the slider move back. I just spent 2 hours fixing this bug, and it worked for me.

Do you have another phone (cell phone) you can use to make a test call to yourself? If you can answer a call and the Uniden transmits voice OK, then it is probably the speaker and may just be a bad solder connection. If the handset does not transmit or receive I seriously doubt you have a bad microphone AND a bad speaker, you'd be looking at something more serious.
