My ps3 turns on and the light turns green and turns itself off what is wrong with it

Your post is a little confusing. So youre saying that when you turn your PS3 on and the green light comes on...the system then beeps and then turns itself off? nothing shows up on the TV?

If that is the case, its definitely something wrong with the system/OS. Did you download anything or install anything from the net THROUGH the PS3? Or have you hooked up any external drives that may be carrying a virus? Linux systems are not 100% protected from viruses these days so getting one on the PS3 is not unheard of.

You may want to check and see if your system is overheating. Make sure its well ventilated and also use the air-in-a-can **** to clean out some of the dust

First the Reason for Yellow Light

If the hard-drive fails on the PS3 you may get a solid yellow led, The yellow light will show if the console is overheating as well, but the console shuts down so you don't it for long.


1)Turn off your playstation 3. If you think your ps3 has been caught by the heat, then wait at least 20 minutes and put it back on again

2) Check if there's any loose cable.

3) Try to put out your playstation's hard-drive, and put it back in. You might want to repeat this 2-3 times for better results.

If this did not work, then it is suggested to send your PS3 for repairs to Sony Customer Support

ps3 . when i turn it on the green light comes on then goes flashes yellow then goes red and will not come on

try this:
it works for slimline PS2. might work for PS3.
1) turn off PS3
2) unplug PS3 and wait a minute or two before plugging back in.
3) turn on PS3

i'm having the same problem.

be sure all cords are plugged in correctly and that the tv itself works if nothing helps and its not any of the cords you may need to get it looked at.
