The computer on my schwin 418 eliptical does not work. Is there something I can do to fix it myself? Where can I get it serviced?

What's better than finding the solution to your problem 8 years after you need it?

So I have the same eliptical, model EV455. Same problem with the screen just saying ERR.

For me I fixed it by unplugging the adapter from the wall for 30 seconds. Not just the power connexion at the eliptical: the power bricks needs to be unplugged for 30 seconds.

I believe the capacitors in the AC adapter are garbage and the eliptical detect something weird with the voltage or current. Unplugging the AC adapter allows to discharge the capacitor and after that it worked for me.

Might just need a new power adapter :)

Dear Sir:
You must test the power supply inside of TV, if you have skill for to do oit use DVOM, otherwise you must call some service tech, or go to repair shop.
However try to tight every connector wires, for loose, breake(test the wires for continuity) or burn.

An "Error 1" message is a generic electrical error code. This error code usually means one of several things: 1) the AC adapter needs replacing, 2) the wires connecting the power to the console need replacing, or 3) the console itself needs replacing. If the console has batteries, start by changing those. If this does not solve the problem, then check the AC adapter. If the problem persists, you're looking at a problem that might warrant the attention of a repair technician.

Did you ever fix this? I am having the same problem...

forthe cost of the unit vs. the cost of having it serviced , ive decided to work on it myself. I have it narrowed down to the flourescent backlight or the backlight power curcuit.

You can reset it with holding [SF] + [M1] ( the big button with denso on it) +[0]+[PW] simultaniously
WARNING it will clear all existing programs running on it.

After you reset it you should be able to upload new software on it
