I have the same problem with my brand new GE Profile gas cooktop. The flames are so high, everything burns. Even the lowest "simmer" burner boils everything. I called the plumber (our cooktop uses a propane converter system) and was told that there was no way to decrease the amount of gas flowing to the cooktop. Help!!! This cooktop is a piece of junk. Ours is less than two years old; we bought the house from the previous owner and moved in in July. The flames can't be adjusted. They're too high. We burn a lot of food. We've had other problems with it. Right now, after cleaning the burners and putting them back, the lock light won't go off and there is a LOUD buzzing noise when we try to use it. Man, I HATE to put more money into this thing to have it repaired. We plan to replace it ASAP!This cooktop is a piece of junk. Remove the front panel to find where the gas injectors enter the burner tubes you will see they are cut away and have a screw holding an outer ring which is adjustable, open them up more to get more air in .
Hi, Where the gas comes into the stove, there is a regulator. Have a service person check the incomeing gas pressure after the regulator with a manometer. Sounds like you are getting too much gas pressure to the range.
I had the same issue on my jgp975 and sadly I had to purchase a different unit. I use simmer frequently and I made the assumption that low was simmer. Wrong. I believe a true simmer is 450 btu and my unit did not go that low. I had to check the fine print/specs page and on some units the manufacturer had to be called. I did replace with another ge profile that did have the low setting.
after using the simmer portion a mini explosion occurs after about 10 minutes and the flame goes out. if other burners are on they also go out. only happens when simmer is on
I am not sure of this Model but most of the Gas Rail Cocks ( Taps) when you remove the knob you will find either a small hole drilled into the spindle This would be the Low Burner (simmer Rate) Adjustment there would be a small screwdriver requiredto do this , if its not there ,then there is usually a small screw on the side of the tap under the Knob Hope this will help you
one way is the orfice that goes inside the burner.some have a little screwin the knob shaft to ajust.if no screw its the orficc.theres a tech sheet that will give you more detail about that on that stove.bottem drawer area or back.also so ranges have orfices on them in the back also.God bless, tom
