I have an old Starbucks Barista Athena Espresso maker. It has worked like a charm until last night. Everything works correctly until I start to brew the espresso. The green light is on and the green light on the brew switch blinks. Here's the problem--all I get is a hum-m-m and nothing comes through. HELP!!!

I just had my Barista Athena do the same thing. My son took the the coffee basket holder apart, nothing wrong there but the gasket on the bottom inside of the holder, where the coffee basket fits, is compressed letting the basket sit too close to the bottom of the holder. He tested this by raising in the basket and got coffee to flow ever so slightly. I just happened to be looking for a new gasket and saw your post.
It is my understanding that Starbucks is no longer making coffee machines. Your best bet is to contact Starbucks and ask who they may be recommending for repair support.
I hope this helps.

Starbucks Barista (Saeco) Espresso machine Quit pumping

Hi
If it makes a noise when you turn the brew switch on you may have a blockage in the out let line. If it doesn't make a noise but every so often you may have a bad pump.

My Barista Saeco is 4 yrs.old. Pump works good in the steam cycle but bogs down in the brew cycle. Today the pump almost stopped completely. What's up?

Try cleaning your portafilter. Put a pinch of automatic dishwashing detergent in the portafilter basket only. Brew until you get suds comming out then stop for 1 minute. Repeat 5-10 times, stoping for the minute each time, until you get white foam. Then rinse basket and brew empty for a complete tank. Then try brewing again with coffee.

Barista Zia Espresso Machine

file:///Users/Julie/Downloads/Barista_Final_011305.pdf

I had the same problem. The Barista Zia is the same as the Barista Athena on the inside, the only diffrence between the two is the plastic shell on the Zia, and the steaming wand is on the opposite side. This is the instruction manuel for the barista athena, so its basically the same. Thanks! good luck!
