When tv is off, after some time standby light flashes then switches to orange (as displayed when tv is on). Does this for hours, TV then comes on without prompting. TV is brand new but does this daily.

3 blinks is a lamp cover error, did you make sure that the lamp cover is screwed in tight? Also check the lamp cover for deformity, there is a problem with your model where the set over heats and melts the lamp cover a little causing it not to make connection with the lamp cover switch. How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. Have exactly the same problem. Standby light flashing twice in 1 second then off for 5 seconds but will not switch on. This after switching off on the set following around 1 hour use.
Switched all power to set off for around 30-40 minutes

Similar problem. Unplugged for 36 hours and it works

get a new TV :)
