My flotec 1/2 hp shallow well pump pumps to 45# of pressure rapidly, takes longer to get to 49# pressure and then takes 30 - 45 minutes to reach the 50 psi shut off pressure. The pump is hooked up to a Flotec bladder tank. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Thanks, Jerry Gapinski [email protected]

Hi,
Those pumps will reach 50# when brand new, but soon the parts wear and then they will not make that pressure anymore...
Instead of replaceing the pump, just back the pressure down a tick or two to get it to shut off and not waste your electric....

Hi there my flotec 1/2 hp shallow well jet pump has a crack in the casing how can i repair this until i can get a new pump?

If it is on the pressure side about the only repair would be to get it welded. If on the suction side you MIGHT be able to "V" it out slightly and use JB Weld or maybe even Bondo... Tose will NOT work on the pressure side however.

1/2 hp shall well pump. set at 30/50....seems to hesitate around 48 for an extra amount of time....have to shake the hose or tap the pressure plate to get pump to cycle off. also....noticed the pump...

50 PSI for a 1/2 HP pump is approaching the upper limit for that pump. Many things can affect the upper limit. How far the pump has to pull water up the well pipe, is there any air leak what so ever on the input. If the pump lost its prime because it could not attain the 50PSI, I would suspect it may be just outside the limits of the pump at this point in time. If this pump is on a shallow well, it may be that the shallow well point is beginning to plug and not allowing as much water in which would cause a harder pull for the pump. I would turn the high pressure side down to maybe 45 and see if it operates properly at that pressure.

I hope this helps.

I got 1 year old flotec 3/4 hp pump and it take

I have had the same problem there are a few things that can cause it to take longer to shut off, if you are running a sand point well that's usually a sign that the sand point is clogging up,if you have a sistern or a dug well check the screen on the end of the suction pipe, another possible cause is the water level has dropped low enough the pump is having to work harder to pull the water up, you should also check your pressure tank and the points for the pump if the points are sticking the pump will keep running till it builds enough pressure to trip them.Check for leaks in the suction line, if it is sucking air that would cause it to run longer to.I hope these suggestions will help fix the problem. Have a great weekend

Pump stopped working while pumping

Yes, most motors are thermally protected. It is usually bi-metallic, and resets itself.

3/4 pump -is pumping water - but a a slow pace

Re prime the pump. Make sure the suction line is completly flooded so it will take a good suction from the well.

I have a flotec water pump that sits on top of my pressure tank, pump worked ok last season, and when we tried to prime the pump to start this season, it wont pull water up from the well pipe, pump will...

if the pump is working correctly, it can either be, need more water to prime it, or something in the well, such as low water, plugged filter, etc....sometimes when you have a system that is intermittently used, it can take 20 or 30 minutes of continuous priming to get it to pull, enough water to maintain the prime.
