What kind of tools I u use on a poulan chain saw to adj the l and h screws

There make several different specialty tools for adjusting these...can you see what shape it is.....splined, double D, pac man,,etc..most poulan are splined that I have seen...????

you can order them online at several people laces just Google carb adjustment tools..

If you are in a pinch you can make a temporary one out of the end of a blue plastic box pen...just knock the top end of it out and tap it over the needle...I have used these many times on poulan..

What kind of tool do you use to adjust the carb? where can I buy one?

Hi Mr. Martin:
Not quite sure what kind of adjustments you want to do.
All the chain saws that I've experience with have two slotted screws, one high speed, and one low speed. There may also be an idle stop adjustment screw.
Adjustments typically consist of:
1) with the saw running, adjust the low speed screw so that the engine is running smoothly.
2) with the engine running, increase throttle to maximum rpm and then adjust high speed by leaning (screw in) until maximum rpm starts to drop off, then back out 1/3 turn.
3) let the saw return to idle rpm. should be smooth, and chain not turning. Adjust as necessary.
Tool required is small screw driver. It can help if you put a small piece of plastic hose over the blade so that it will not slip off the head of the screws.

Ebay item number is: 390025452838. Buy it online. I got mine about a week after I ordered it.

Adjusting rear suspension

the rear shock is adjustable, the ring below the spring turns and locks onto a kind of peg on the body of the shock. being that your bike is an 86 it may even be time for new shocks or an upgrade to stiffer. if you do adjust then make sure both sides are on the same setting. as far as tools needed some shocks can be done by hand with help from someone lifting the weight up on the back end. i dont know what kind of tools as i cant find a good pic online of your bike but maybe a C spanner / wrench
