SOURCE: Verbatim 250 GB drive suddenly not recongnized

Sounds like either the HDD or the USB controller card is almost dead.

Sorry for the news, if it is the USB controller you should be able to have the drive transferred into a new enclosure and continue using it. However if it's the circuitry on the Hard drive itself you may be in need of more serious assistance.

You can take the drive to most computer stores and have someone tranfer it into a new enclosure if you need the data and don't mind the risk of voiding your warranty. If that doesn't work, let me know and I can point you in the direction of a service company that can attempt to extract you files from the damaged drive.

SOURCE: USB External Hard Drive cannot access. Disk

If the drive is available, with a blue bar in disk management, just right click on it and select 'change drive letter and paths'. This will allow you to assign your own drive letter.

If you have more than one external drive or if you use daemon tools, powerISO, they may be trying to occupy the same drive letter, which would explain your problem...

If you see a black bar, it would seem your partition was corrupted and you would need to try and recover your data, if necessary (recuva recovery software is an option) and then repartition the drive.

Hope this helps!

Why C-D030 error happend?

All CD errors are hard disk errors, likely to mean it is unformatted or corrupted.
The following process allows you to reformat the hard disk.
Think carefully if you want to commit to doing this. It shouldnt cause any problems, Ive had to do it on a couple of our printers in the past with this and a different CD code.

Use:
• When the hard disk is mounted.
• When the hard disk is to be initialized. (Physical Format to Logical Format)
Adjustment
Procedure
1. Call the Service Mode to the screen.
2. Touch these keys in this order: [State Confirmation]
- [Memory / HDD Adj.] - [HDD
Format].
(1) Physical Format
1. Touch [Physical Format].
2. Press the Start key to start the formatting sequence.

1. Touch [Logical Format].

Lacie disk mini full

Try Start > Run (aka Search in Win 7) type dskmgmt.msc. Look for your drive there. Right clicking will give you the options of initializing, creating disc partitions, assigning logical drives, and formatting.

DX4850 doesn't detect dvd drive. It doesnt show on "my computer"

Check to see if it is detected in "Device Manger"
  • Right Click "My Computer" > Properties
  • Click on the "Hardware" tab
  • Click Device Manager
  • Check to see if you shows any devices with yellow ! or ?
If you see nothing at all for a CD/DVD drive then it's mostly just bad and needs to be replaced. Press easy replacement. Here is a tutorial. I would rate it a 2 out of 10 for difficulty. http://www.ehow.com/how_4814466_replace-computer-dvd-drive.html
Comment back if you need further assistance. Thanks!

I have a HP pavilion DV6 laptop with preloaded windows 7 home premium and 4 primary partitions. The windows partition is the third one. Now, I want to split that partition. But, windows does not let me do...

Use the free partition manager form EASEUS. Convert the partitions #3 and #4 into logical partitions containded both in the same extended partition (you can have only one extended partition, but it can contain multiple logical partitions, each with its own drive letter asigned)
Now you can using the same EASEUS to split the patition you wanted.

My usb ports have power but my devices are not being recognised

Hi t dillman523...

The problem is probably being caused by the Logical Disk Manager
Administrative service and possibly the logical Disk Manager service
not being started or the services might be disabled.
To solve the problem, click on the "Start" menu, click the "Run" command, and then type
in the box: services.msc , scroll down until you see both the above services.
right click on each of the services about and select properties, on the
general tab, change the startup type to "automatic" and click the start
button under the service status. do this for both of the services, and
that should will fix your problem."

For Windows 2000 and XP:
Right click on My Computer.
Choose Manage (This will open the Computer Management window).
Go to the Storage category and select Disk Management
Right click the new drive (usually listed as Hard Disk 1) and "initialize"
You now have the option to partition and format the drive.
The default settings of Primary Partition and NTFS- Quick Format are recommended
Please take time to rate me

Not getting a drive letter from Compaq SCSI RAID setup

Did you see any new drives in the disk managemen screen? To get to the disk management, hold window key down and hit 'R', then type diskmgmt.msc and hit enter.

If you do see the drive in the lower half of the screen, you need to initialize the drive either as dynamic disk or basic disk. Then you need to add a new partition and format it.

Good luck.

Are you sure that our logical disk is not mapped twice to your host channel on your MSA 1500? If it isn't have you tried a power cycle to the storage array and a clean shutdown/restart on your host?
