Some interesting reading on page 8 of the owner's manual:

"Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite and spread if the vent fan is operating. To minimize automatic fan operation, use adequate sized cookware and use high heat on surface units only when necessary."

And on page 20:

"If the temperature becomes too hot around the microwave oven, the fan in the vent hood will automatically turn on at the LEVEL 2 setting to cool the oven. The fan will automatically turn off when the oven has cooled down sufficiently. This is an automated process and cannot be turned off. The fan may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. The Vent Fan will only operate in 1~4 levels modes while the microwave is working."

"Using the Vent delay off button
1. Press the Delay Off button once to turn the fan off after 1 minute.
2. Press the Delay Off button twice to turn the fan off after 3 minutes.
3. Press the Delay Off button three times to turn the fan off after 5 minutes.
4. Press the Delay Off button fiour times to turn the fan off after 10 minutes.
5. Press the Delay Off button five times to turn the fan off after 30 minutes."

If for some reason you don't have your owner's manual, you can still download it free here.

Samsung microwave oven Model # SMH9151S. Turntable not turning fan inside (not the exhaust fan) is not working either.

It may be a failed relay on the control board, which I repair affordably.

Fan comes on by itself and won't turn off.

Is it a micro hood? If so, and you're cooking on the stove below, it may be that the microwave is getting too warm. Some of them have an automatic fan the comes on when you're cooking below them - especially when boiling potatoes or something else steamy.

Kenmore microwave 85609 has a 5E code on it

test this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Power Issues

    • If your microwave oven won't come on, ensure that the power cord is plugged into an outlet and that the power is on. Replace any blown fuses, and reset a tripped circuit breaker. If the microwave won't run, see that the door is completely closed and that nothing is stuck in it. Ensure that your door is not broken. Replace if necessary. See that you have not started the timer as opposed to the cooking function. Press "Start/Enter" to start your microwave.

    Clock

    • Your display will flash if your power goes out. You must reset the clock. If you do not hear a tone at the end of cooking, ensure that you have enabled the audible tone. Also check that you are using the right command. If your power goes out while your food is cooking, you must reset both the cooking time and clock.

    Cooking

    • If you see sparks while you are cooking, remove any metal objects or plates with silver or gold trim. If your food is taking too long to cook, ensure that you have selected the correct power level for the food item. Remove any other appliance from the 20-amp circuit line. Additional appliances on the same amp will draw too much power away from the microwave. Also ensure that you have selected the correct food item in the preprogrammed menu. Each microwave has its own error codes. Always read your manual to determine what the error code means. Examples of error codes include "E-11", "E-12" and "E-13." This means that you have a defective sensor, and you must get your microwave serviced. The "SE" error code indicates an issue with your control panel.

    Additional Problems

    • You may hear gear noises, especially a humming noise; the fan will automatically come on while your food is cooking. If your turntable plate makes noise, first clean it, and then see that it is positioned correctly over the roller ring. If your nearby appliances are experiencing electrical interference, move your microwave farther away to correct this problem.

Microwave turns on but wont cook food

It is most likely the magnetron, but! there are two more items that will do the same, a cracked high voltage diode and a shorted high voltage capacitor.

How to set temperature in Samsung microwave. 160 c means ? watts.

They're totally non-interchangeable as they're two totally different ways of cooking.

There is no correlation at all between a temperature setting used by electric and fan ovens and the microwave power level, there's not even a rule of thumb. For microwave cooking, the fat, sugar and water content of any given food item as well as the mass and shape are what determine cooking times and microwave power levels, and not all foods can be safely microwaved as high fat/sugar content foods may catch fire.

Microwave is arcing and making a popping noise as if something metal was in there while cooking.

I will assume that you do not have any metal items or bits of tinfoil lying around inside the oven.

If the sparks are happening on the inside of the microwave's cooking area while you are cooking, then make sure you clean the inner surfaces really well. Be sure to remove any cooked on food particles that may have splashed up during cooking.

Most likely you have some corrosion or dried food debris inside the cooking area, or perhaps even some food particles stuck to your WAVEGUIDE COVER PLATE. A dirty waveguide cover plate can certainly cause the arcing and sparking you describe.

If the thorough cleaning does not work, you may need to replace the waveguide cover. Here is a link to a short video that shows you exactly how to replace the wave guide cover yourself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0xsXjhefy4

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the video at the website indicated.

If the sparks are coming from somewhere other that the cooking area, then your unit may need more significant electrical repairs or service.

Hey, I have a new microwave, and when ever I reheat foods or make frozen meal the food ends up soggy. I've cooked my food with a paper towel but it gets soaked too. I don't know what else to do!

Hello;
Confirm that the exhaust fan is worjing Iy exhaust the moisture while the items heat up. Another thing is to vent the packaging the food is wraped in. It holds the moisture, which turns to steam, then back to water when it cools. Venting is important. Good uck and thanks for using Fix-ya. Ned

Does not cook food. the microwave oven appears to be working but it doesn't cook the food. Turn-table works, timer works, the light in the oven is on but my food does not cook, defrost or warmed up.

In all likelihood the mangnetron is failing, or perhaps even the Power Supply is faulty. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man.
Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one

Toaster Master 1979 has less power

Because the microwave energy is beamed into the interior of the microwave and then dispersed by a metallic "stirrer," the pattern of the energy can be fairly consistent, rather than completely random. But this pattern sometimes causes certain portions of the food to overcook (creating tough spots) and others to undercook. A microwave oven with a carousel is far better at cooking the food consistently--the pattern becomes quite random while the carousel is turning.
