Keeps on coding F21 - we have adjusted the hose several times but still seems to be giving us problems

An "F21" or "F02" error code is indicative of a slow draining cycle, normally caused by a clogged or kinked drain hose. If an "F21" or "F02" error code appears, check the drain hose on the back of your washer to ensure that it is not clogged or bent. Once the drain hose has been unblocked, the error code should disappear and the machine drain properly. However, if you have a high efficiency washing machine and the error code continues to appear, make sure you are using the correct detergent; because high efficiency machines use much less water than traditional washing machines, they require the use of a low sudsing detergent. Traditional detergents may produce too many suds, which can block the machine's drain hose and lead to slower draining cycles.

I have the manual for this machine. Under "Code 21" it says the following:
"F21" (Drain Problem) Select STOP twice to cancel the cycle. Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check the following: Is the drain hose kinked? Is the drain hose frozen? Is the drain hose clogged? Is the drain hose more than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor? Plug in washer or reconnect power. Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains, call for service.
For "SUDS" code, the following:
"SUD" (Suds Routine) When excessive suds are detected, a suds routine automatically starts. This routine removes extra suds and assures proper rinsing of your garments. "SUD" is displayed during rinsing to inform you that Suds Routine was activated. Use only HE (High Efficiency) detergents.
Here is some more information that may help you as well:
"F" Codes other than F20, F21 and F22 Select STOP twice to cancel the cycle. Select DRAIN & SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer. Re-select cycle and press START. If the problem remains, call for service.

The Sd code appears when sud is detected but it may also indicate draining problem such as blocked drain filter or broken drain pump as signified by the long drain error code F21. The drain pump impeller may be broken or restricted resulting in poor draining or no draining at all or the drain pump motor is faulty. Since the drain hose and filter have been cleaned but the error code still persists, the drain pump likely needs to be replaced. Based on your post I understand you have a F21 problem with a Kenmore washer, the F21 error means an excessive drain time was detected as you may or may not already know.

Check for the drain hoses(both sides of the pump) and check for a blockage,then check the pump for blockage,there should be 4 impellers on this pump and they can get broken off by coins and debris. This solution will fix your problem.

"F21" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:


1.First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
2.Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
3.Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
4.Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.


If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.
