Yes you can upgrade your phone to android 2.2 because it has the capacity to carry the operating system. these are the requirements for it:
Support for extra high DPI screens (320 dpi), such as 4" 720p, and your phone meets the criteria.

How do I upgrade my HTC Hero to Android 2.2 so I can use voice dialing with bluetooth?

Most Sprint service centers get paid to do this for you and its FREE to you. But the software is on sprint.com/downloads. I would back up everything first as you will lose everything upgrading it. Good luck!

How do you get the upgrade the htc hero to 2.1

Getting Started

Before you run the ROM Update Utility (RUU), make sure you have done the following:

  • Backed up the data on your device.
  • Standby or hibernation mode of your PC has been disabled.
  • Close all running applications on the PC.
  • Set aside approximately 25 minutes to allow the device to update.
  • Charged the battery to at least 30%.
  1. Download HTC Sync for Android.

Install the HTC Sync software on your PC if it is not already installed. This software was included in your HTC Hero gift box. The minimum required HTC Sync version is 2.0.28. We have HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 available for download; newer versions might be available from www.htc.com.

HTC Sync for Android 2.0.40 (39MB)

  2. Download the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade executable file.

    Hero 2.1 Upgrade (113MB)

  3. Connect your HTC Hero to your PC.

    Use the supplied USB cable.

If the HTC Sync application appears on the screen of your PC, you may simply dismiss the wizard by pressing the Cancel button.

  4. Run the Hero 2.1 MR Upgrade RUU file.

Follow the on-screen prompts to install the update for your HTC Hero
WARNING: During the upgrade process, do not attempt to make/receive calls, press any buttons on your device or disconnect the device from the USB cable as this will stop the update and your device may be rendered inoperable!

If you have a problem with the connection between your device and PC be sure to check the connection type in your device. This can be done in the device via Settings -> Connect to PC. Ensure that HTC Sync is selected.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/

The above link has weekly or daily updates to nearly all Android capable mobile phones.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=512 is a more specific address.

Search ebay: "ANDROID 2.2. HERO" ... often brings sellers with complete instructions on working solutions, for a few dollars.

Can i upgrade my htc hero android version 1.5 to 2.0???

only if you carrier is putting one out. Other wise you need root access (unlock the phone) and try one of the MANY ROM upgrades on the net. Beware that not all "upgrades" will be benign. Lots of malware out there.

I have a htc hero and i try to watch vidios or movies on line and half the time it tells me to upgrade my flash player. How do i do that? What can i do to watch video trouble free?

Unfortunately you will need to upgrade your flash player, there's no way around it if u want to watch videos online. However you could try downloading the opera mini browser, its free and it generally incorporates the latest version of the flash player. It should allow you to watch virtually any video. Hope it helps

Flash player does not work on htc hero

First off, the version of Flash on the Hero is a stripped-down version. You will not be able to get full-functioning Flash for your phone. That means that a lot of Flash content will not work.

Another thing to check is within the Browser settings. When in your Browser, hit Menu > More > Settings and scroll down and see if Enable plugins is checked off. Turn it on and it will turn on the Flash Light for your phone.

But again, not true Flash on the Hero. They might be coming out with a full version of Flash sometime. I have heard there is something coming.
