I have recently purchased a ps3, about 2/3 weeks ago, with it i brought call of duty 4. I brought the ps3 mainly for online gaming and cod4 works perfectly. I then purchased fifa 08 and tried to play online, but when i put the disc in, it came up with 'you must have system 1.10, but i have system 2.41, and so wen i click cancel it either freezes or does not load, however, when i click on load system 1.10 it says ' loading please wait' and then the screen turns black and nothing happens. I took Fifa back and got a new one, but it seems to be the same story. Furthermore, i have recently noticed that call of duty 4 has not been playing properly, i.e freezing alot of the time. Therefore, i believe it is my ps3 that is the problem not the discs. I believe it has happened since i downloaded system 2.30, any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers jon

The Fifa 08 game has problems if you are not using a "HD" output. So if you don't have a Hi-def TV then don't buy this game (It is why i didn't buy the PS3)! I am not sure about the other game.

Cod4 'sometimes works online'
just wait for Modern Warfare 2. I play COD4 all the time and the problems are getting worse for everyone, not just you. Mine sometimes takes forever to get there, sometimes it doesn't and I have to restart, or the Playstation Network kicks me off a million times a night. 11-10-09 and COD MW2 will be out and then we can deal with all those problems :)

if you are using a wireless connection the signal may be to weak. if not you can try deleting your game and save data. you will lose any single player saves you will also have to re download any map packs you purchased. the game should also do an update when you load again after deleting the game and save.

Ps3 cod4 downloading game settings then i cant play
1-turn off game console..............2-disconnect router for 20 seconds then reconnect............3-turn on game console..............4-go to setting click on network setting.................5-go to internet connection and press X and disable the connection wait 10 seconds and renable the connection and cod4 should work fine on line.............................

COD4 Multiplayer makes computer fans loud and hot.
When you play online games it will usually require more system resources to power. Your processor also handles the data that is being sent and received during your online session. Some code for online games have more overhead than others. I do not believe that it has anything to do with your machine, but more the software and network overhead that the multiplayer game requires. If you notice that both single and multiplayer run on seperate executables...

Single Player = C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3sp.exe
Multiplayer = C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe
