We have an electric & gas Baumatic range oven. The smaller electric oven works fine. The larger oven does not. Neither the top nor the bottom element will heat up and the rear fan does not spin. The internal extraction fan, presumably on a different circuit, does work,

You changed the element does everything else work fine, stovetop elements, broiler etc.if so check your wiring going to the new element and to the switch if they are fine it may just be the temp/control switch

My bosch oven grill element is not working and my oven does not seem to be getting as hot as it should. any ideas what it could be.

More than likely the grill element has failed, and this could account for the oven not getting hot enough, as on some makes, the grill element is on at the same time as the oven element, so if the element has failed, then it will not be hot enough.
My advice would be fit a new grill element, and this hopefully will solve the problem of the oven not being hot enough.

    Thankyou.

Can I change the grill element myself? I assumed it just plugged in at the rear and have removed the two screws holding element to top of oven. Now I wonder if the steel plate at the back is itself bolted...

The grill element is not usually a 'plug-in' device.

You will have to remove the back of the oven/grill and disconnect it from the back before you can withdraw it from the front.

Remember to switch off the power before removing the back.
