Hey, I have a LG GR500f Xenon mobile phone, and I connected it to an XP computer I own and everything worked fine. Now, I am trying to connect it to my Windows 7 computer, and it try's to connect the phone, and says that it "failed to connect the mobile phone to the pc" The phone seems to know that its plugged in to the computer because it says charging, or charging completed, and the computer makes a acknowledgement noise when I plug the USB cord in. I have tried running the program in administrator mode, and tried disabling the virus checker, but it changed nothing. Also, I tried running it in compatibility mode for XP Service pack 3, but that did nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Dale.

I went through the same trouble. After a small investigation I've found that the USB driver wasn't install. I just ran the setup and it worked imediatly C:\Program Files\LGE GSM PC Sync\USB Setup\LGUSBModemDriver_ML_WHQL_Ver_4.6.exe

I have finally tracked down the reason MY U990 would not connect (in data service )
It seems if you have more than 3 sub menus open it will NOT connect....

To fix this go to the ‘multitask’ icon in the top right hand corner of the screen.(the icon is a 3x3 grid with the top right hand square larger than the rest and coloured blue) I found by clicking on the items listed I was able to reduce the list to 2.
Hey presto connects just fine.

i found this on another website, i was having the same problem with my lg shine slider....but ne way this worked for me maybe it will work 4 u.....

Make yourself a new contact (I used "me"). Scroll down and add your e-mail address and NOTHING else.
Go to Menu: Messaging: New Message: Multimedia: Options: Insert: Graphic (select the photo you want): Send to: Contacts (Me or whatever you used): *note: When you use "Me" as a contact, it may just show "m" on the screen. DO NOT press any other keys. Just send your message to "m", and leave it alone.

I get this all the time and it is really annoying.
What I do to solve it for me is to is to tern all my mobile application off and then reconnect the USB cable.

To close all open applications: press the white hard key (in the middle of the red and green), and you customisable menu appears. At the top of the screen is a grey tab with a dark grey triangle (like a play button), press this and you see all (if any phone application are open), press the end all button on the screen. Then to confirm action pres yes to stop all tasks.

You need to change the usb connection type on the LG. By default it is set to "mass storage", if you change it in your "connection" setting to "data storage" when you next plug in your phone, it will have all of the PC Suite settings available without any grayed out non-functionality.
