I recently got a 60 inch Sony KDF-E60A20 from a friend for around. ... runs for about 1 minutes then goes black(no picture no sounds), then the picture and sound come right back on for another minutes then off for 30 seconds.
My 32' LG LED TV has suddenly lost picture! The sound is all right but the Screen is pitch black. After switching it on the picture flashes for a second and then the screen goes completely black.

I'd say about the blinking to a black screen would be your cable provider. As for the stripes that means that your board panels can be going bad, you can try updating the firmware of the TV to help but if that doesn't work you're getting very close to full failure on the TV.
it sounds like your "lamp" is going out look for a hidden compartment.. or in your owners manual to see where its located its an easy fix and costs much less than a new tv
Our Sony TV kept going on and off too. Repairman replaced the lamp, even though red light was never on. Problem solved.
Sony support insisted it was not the lamp if red lamp light was not on. Don't believe it. Picture and sound would go on for 30 seconds, then off for 30 seconds. The new lamp did fix the problem.
I had this problem (every 30 seconds, not 5 minutes) and ordered a new replacement
XL2200 lamp from Sony and that fixed it. By the way, the lamp installs
from the front so there's no need to pull your TV out from the wall.
Look at you manual, it is accurate in this respect. My lamp only lasted
about 15 months. It costs $200 plus about $16 to ship. You can order
direct from Sony on line service.
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
