If you install the HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Toolbox software it will give you all the on screen monitoring you need in lieu of a defective LDC display.

Line under the screen. cannot be removed from sytem configuration of laptop, video card and windows setup.

Some monitors and laptop displays have a protectice strip between the plastic frame and the screen. After awhile these strip begins to move and it works its way down onto your display. You may want to contact your Manufacturer if the laptop or Monitor is under warranty

Display does not light up

This is problem many of hp cp1700 printers. LCD display have manufacter issuse. After some time degrage material joins LCD with controler. You can partial fix this issue, but you must take to parts front panel and repair cable contact on both side of plastic flat wire
(one side plastic flat wire and LCD, two side plastic flat and LCD controler board ). Repair must be done with stress dull tip and hot temperature, may use tinfioil and soldering iron.
OR you can bay new part panel board with lcd aproximaly 150$.
OR you do not repair printer and use pc program that view display info form printer display on pc monitor. On Linux I use HPLIP Toolbox.

Its the cable which attaches to the lcd display, you have to press on the contact areas where the cable attaches to the lcd glass and circuit board.

Black striped down left hand side of display

Hi Danny, you haven't been very clear I will assume you pushed the auto configure on the monitor,
I would go into the menu on the monitor and reset the size of the screen if it has a setting for that 1024x768 should fix the problem
let me know what you find as I have never worked with a hp W19 monitor, if nothing else set the monitor to defaults again in the menu and that may get you back to having normal screens.

The digital readout on the CP1700 is a problem. I have replaced mine now 4 times at a cost of $90 each time, and I'm going to have to do it again or get the new 2800. Just wonder if the 2800 is going to have the same defect.
