This may or may not work. Connect phone with USB to computer. Click start, then "computer". Right click on removable disk (F:). Click "open as removable device". If you are able to access the phone's files, you should find a folder containing your videos.
However, here's a better way. Connect your device to your computer using bluetooth. Both devices will have to be bluetooth enabled. On your phone go to "settings", then "wireless and network", then "bluetooth". Click "enable bluetooth". Also click "visible" so your computer will recognize the device.
Now click "scan".
If your phone does not find your computer. Then go to your computer. Click start, and type in "bluetooth". Choose bluetooth device to add your phone. Your phone should be "visible" so your computer can find it and add it.
On your computer you can use the transfer wizard (just click start then type in bluetooth) and click "receive a file" and click "next" or on your camera go to the video folder, highlight it, click menu, then click share, there should be quite a list, choose "bluetooth". Your phone should scan and find your computer. Voila!

How do I eliminate 3 minutes of static, that I accidentally recorded from the VHS tape onto the disc. I want to record something after that but don't want 3 minutes of static in the middle of my recording.

besides sitting there to hit stop when the static part starts i would suggest loading the video onto your computer and use a video editing program to edit out the static from your recording - if you load 2nd thing your were going to record you can even put in effects and join them together as a "double feature" if you want

What cable is required to download the recorded video on tape?

To download from the tape (not the memory card) you need a firewire cable, and a computer that has firewire compatibility. Most laptops have this, but desktops may require a firewire card to be installed.

Transferring video files to a computer for further editing

First you have to make sure they are NOT recording in VR mode.
But i would say it sounds like they have not finalized the discs.
To get them onto your PC you would need to convert/cut them with something like total video converter. If you want to edit more than just cutting you would need another program for that.
