What is happening to your laptop is the power line connecting a row of pixels is failing so only partial colors are showing up causing the vertical lines. Usually screen replacement is the only answer to fix it. You can usually find replacement LCD on Ebay.

Red vertical lines on right side of LED TV set

It is likely the main board that processes all signal to and from the display panel (entire front screen unit).

It is also possible it is the display panel itself which is fatal.

My lg monitors screen is one vertical line red is comes up anothers is two horizontal line starting

This is an early indicator the LCD display is going and will only get worse. The only option down the road is to replace the monitor because the cost to repair will exceed the price of a new one.

50pc56 plasma hd lg tv got thin vertical line going down screen

When you see these thin lines they are caused by a few things. None of which are good.

On smaller tv's the lines can be cause by the contacts coming loose after being bumped. These can be either the contacts with the small ribbon cables or the contacts inside the actual lcd display. The connectors can be reinserted and sometimes that is all it takes. Generally the lcd panel can only be fixed by replacement.

The other thing that causes this are problems with ram/memory or timing issues. Either of those will require the board to be replaced. If the line is on all channels it is usually ram, if it showed only on the odd channel (when you first noticed it) then it is probably timing. Either of these issues require the mainboard to be replaced which is not cheap to do.

Unless you have warranty either through the store or OEM then this is not a cheap fix. The line may go away for periods but eventually it should get worse. The cost of repairs will be worth more than a new replacement TV. So the best advice I can give you is to get a repair estimate to make sure and know what a replacement tv is worth. If its not worth fixing just use the tv until the line gets too annoying or worse then replace it.

Blue vertical lines on Vista laptop on Startup

They haven't been able to solve it because it is a hardware problem....vertical lines, whatever color are indicative of a failing lcd panel. The lcd panel will continue to get worse until it fails completely. The only other possibility is a loose data connection on the back of the panel, if the data connection is slightly loose, re: one side of the panel is not tightly connected it can give off artifact in the way of vertical lines or checkered blocks.

Emerson 32 inch lcd tv two years old has lines running vertically in different areas of the screen top to bottom. What would cause this? The are red green and blue. Is it a known defect?

I don't know anything of this particular TV, but what you describe is generally a known problem in LCD displays.

it's caused by one of two things - either parts of the LCD film thin film for the vertical lines detatching from the board it is glued on or certain micro controllers that are also glued on the LCD film starting to get burned bit by bit. In both cases, the whole vertical line responsible for one of the three colors that a single pixel consist off get dead and depending on how they get dead they get either all open or all closed, respectively completely turning on or shutting off the particular color.

It is most commonly the first case, but whichever of the two it is, there's no known cure for it within reasonable cost.

I've experimented a few times and was able to press the film to the board by using firm objects and fastening the display case, but it would often cause more harm than it brings and even more often it would just not hold reliably. Overall I do not recommend experimenting with it it unless you have lots of time on your hands and you're ready to face an evern worse damage.

In a very rare cases it might also be the tcon also known as LCD controller...but from what you describe it's hardly it. It's worth trying, but if I had to take a guess I'd rather rule it out - it sounds like the LCD.

And the bottom line is you just have to face it - you likely need a new TV. If there's some chance for me to be wrong, try the tcon board at the back first. Then just sold the TV on eBay or CL for whoever gives you most and apply the money towards the new purchase.
